Arrgghh, the 35mm compression coupler I got seems to be a loose fit on the old pipe!
Do I need a reducing olive? To olive is slightly loose on the pipe so I'm assuming it won't just tighten up.
Not iron - brass. I made that mistake once, when I ran out of the right size brass fittings on an install. Ten years later, the householder called me to say his flow had dropped a lot. A fair bit of head-scratching ensued, and I eventually traced it to the farking iron bush that had corroded internally and blocked up.
Because it was my cock-up, I didn't charge him anything for the time.
yes brass fittings ! but if you go in the shop and say 28mm compression male iron or female iron , they will know what you mean !
it doesnt mean Iron fittings !
its just the way I say it I guess ?
I found a place in Watford that's open late and got some end feed 35mm to 1 1/4" reducers!
Now the trouble is the 28mm fittings I have don't seem to fit the next size down pipe!
Just wanna say, what a great forum/bunch of people, so often I've seen posts like this on Diy type forums and the replies are 'don't touch it' etc.
I guess that some plumbers/heating engineers don't wanna give any tips away for free?
Sorry that I can't give any advice on this one, I'm currently waiting for a new pressure diverter valve to come for my boiler, I stripped and used the repair kit on the current one but no joy.
My boiler is a Baxi 105e, what a pig to work on, really tight spaces, not looking forward to getting that valve off again but hey oh.

I’m happy to advise on anything except gas or flues, regardless of people’s view of the law I’m not being responsible for someone hurting themselves or others
105e is a great boiler, first of the decent Baxi combi’s
Oh yeah, I totally agree about the gas aspect, that's pipework I won't touch,......on some of those forums, some engineers try to discourage folk from even tackling a water based or electrical fault by saying that it's illegal to even remove the cover off a boiler unless you are gas safe.
My thoughts also, I would rather call in an expert, Than risk anyone's lifeOh yeah, I totally agree about the gas aspect, that's pipework I won't touch
