the coil will be 1 inch male threads ! so you want a 1 inch female iron to copper compression

the cold fill at the bottom will be 1 inch female so you require a 1 inch male iron to copper compression

and the top hot outlet will be 1 inch female thread so again a 1 inch male iron to copper compression

immersion ? or Cap to blank it off ! should be all !

I doubt they are 1 1/2 pipes, measure the od with some veneers

Yep it's defiantly a 1 1/2" or 35mm pipe to the bottom of the cylinder coming from the boiler!
Top one for the hot water draw off is 22mm the other two are 28mm.
Copper must have been cheap back then!

BES are good for bigger size stuff but it’s very spendy

I bought 2 lengths for a job ages ago and used every bit, I also returned the fittings I didn’t use

I found some 42mm on site today but not a scrap of 35mm! I did buy two 35>28mm reducers though.
Gravity type cylinder I ordered turned up with a big sticker on it saying "all coils must be fully pumped" !!!

Just ignore that, it’s called **** covering. I’ve just been to a standard 450 x 900 grade 4 (so current spec) cylinder on a 30 year old boiler with 28mm gravity circs

@Tigman sorry to mess you about but I probably won't need the pipe, it looks like I'll have to alter the pipe quite a bit to line up to the new cylinder so I'm going to use a 35 to 28mm reducer. Thanks though .

Make sure it rises continuously or it won’t work, even if you have to lift the cylinder up

The old one has the boiler hot supply going into the very top of the cylinder just under the dome, most new ones have it about half way up so I'll have to cut the pipe back to where it comes up through the ceiling and lower it but keeping a rise on it
The return is on the opposite side of the cylinder at the bottom!?? So will need to come back to it at low level, luckily it passes the right way.

Everything is old in this house!
It's possibley the original one from when the house was converted from the old back boiler, must be nearly 40 years old!
It just decided to pop now just a few months before the whole lot gets replaced

I've ordered a new gravity coil cylinder from Newark Cylinders today, not cheap but it will have the big 28mm coil etc so should be ok for my ancient setup.

Not iron - brass. I made that mistake once, when I ran out of the right size brass fittings on an install. Ten years later, the householder called me to say his flow had dropped a lot. A fair bit of head-scratching ensued, and I eventually traced it to the farking iron bush that had corroded internally and blocked up.
Because it was my cock-up, I didn't charge him anything for the time.
