Phase 3 colours help pls

Hi Guys..
I know this is not an electrical forum but I'm hoping there's someone who might be able to help me... Pls..

I purchased an old Cincinatti pillar drill (USA built) which needed a lot of TLC.. It arrived, without a phase 3 plug.. As I never viewed the drill, I've now a problem wiring it up..

This is the junction box .. The 3 reds are wired to 3 blacks and the green is wired to the green and yellow..

Where the plug is missing I've got 3 black wires and a green and yellow..

Any help would be really appreciated.. Obviously I need to wire the plug end into a new plug to use in a knock down box.. I just don't know which colour go where.. I've called my sparky, but he's away in the USA for a month..

Just wire the green and yellow to earth and the other three to the lives in any order. If the drill goes backward, swop any two of the lives and it will go the right way. Nothing to worry about, I've done several.

I will check it, but, it came from a UK engineering company so should be OK..

no ptobs then just conect the 3 blacks up in any order as said above and green and yellow earth .swop any 2 wires if runs the wrong way

Where I used to work we always wired the flexes on 3 phase machines using the same order. L1, L2, L3 were always black, blue and brown in that order. If the machine was going in reverse you swapped the wires in the machine & left the flex alone. That way a flex could be quickly replaced without worrying about getting the phase rotation correct. Some of the machines didn't like going backwards so it was pretty important.

My way of remembering the rotation was thinking about the colours a bruise goes. It goes from black to blue to brown.

That worked well until the EU decided to change the colours to brown, black and grey.

On the wiring .. The earth is not a problem.. But I've only got 2 live connectors and three black wires? The plug is marked 600V

The yellow plug below is the oneView attachment 61080 I'm talking about.. But I've found this plug which has 4 connections on it.. It's wired.. Grey black brown and yellow and green.. I'm guessing this is what should be witted to it as it says 440 on the case.. If it is? I'm stuffed, as it won't fit my step down box..

the old colours were red yellow and blue phases and black neutral replaced with brown black and grey phases and neutral blue

Your pulling our leg arn't you, the isolating transformer turns 230v single phase into 110v single phase.
Its nothing to do with 3 phase!

yep that's just a 240 to 110 box and no way on earth will work anything on 3 phase.

you need a step up box not a step down.

3 phase is not 110 volts its 415 to 440 volts, a lot more than in your house ha ha

Put the 4 pin plug onto the drill and plug it into the 3 phase (red) socket.

use the red plug mate, put your 3 blacks where the grey , black and brown are and connect the green/yellow as shown....

if you read his post again he talks of a step down box !!! not a step uo box.
he seems to think the yellow box will power his 3 phase machine if you read it like I and others do.

110 cable don't have 4 wires, so no idea where that is from.
