I acquired the cable around 4 years ago, and have only just brought it in to service, BUT I did change it to a single phase connector...
This came from an event company, who's owner/director/head honcho was a trained 16th edition electrician...

Bradley Roberts in Ipswich.. I took the advice and spoke to them, they tested motor and said that was fine, suggesting this little box rather than a more suitable motor change, which would have been £300 + for an motor, this box was £170 including testing etc..
The grand I was offered for my so called "pile of scrap" was not offered for the condition it was in when I purchased it, it was offered for the nearly restored condition it's in now.. I will post pics of it when it's finished, which will be very soon now..

A compliment, to me, is the best, motivation I can get..
I previously had a new style pillar drill, name started with an S and ended in a Y...it was flimsy and weak, so got rid and waited for a heavyweight to come up nearby..
Cost £129 and spent £200 on re vamp + my spare time... I think she will see me out!

we are all waiting to see it nicely renovated, cant beat a nice freshly painted old drill with a shiny pillar and good table.
I hate seeing rusty things that people seem to think is in a good usable condition, i wonder what there work is actually like.
I do like the look of a inverter as it gives better speed control, i was looking at these when I was after a drill that had 3 phase motor.
Don't know if you have one that the inverter plugs into, but a RCD is very cheap insurance for both you and the eclectics .
This is just a cheap example but could save a fortune if anything went wonky.

you might already have something in your garage/workshop, if not its a extra bit of safety for little money.

I renovated a mag particle bench unit a couple of years back that came in with a few feet of its old rubber, string-reinforced cable still attached; the colours were black, white and green. It wasn't 3-phase mind - and green wasn't the earth!
