I had deffed that one out as someone posted did I need touch screen. I didn't know it was. Lol

The others are creeping up in price on the auctions as well.

The seller really loves his EXCLAMATION MARKS! and I wouldn't be too taken in by all of the rubbish about £2k list price, tons of optional extras (like a Mercedes E Class!) etc.

Also, I'm not convinced about the "Good condition as per the pics" point - the pictures appear to show a lot of scratches and scrapes. Not that this is important if you're not looking for the shiniest laptop on the block, but I do wonder how accurate the rest of the hyperbole is...

Have you tried looking on Facebook Marketplace? At least that way you could go see the laptop and give it a whirl before shelling out the readies.

Nothing even close to me sadly. The search is good on ebay. Not so good on Facebook. But yes after I listed the filters I then ticked nearest first.... So I could go and use it.

dont seam a bad unit

I bid on it up to 208.
213 won it.
Was it worth 208 maybe maybe not but it would have solved a short term problem whilst I decide what to get from the wife for my 65th.
12 months since I purchased that HP I have got for 800 quid so 80 quid a year seems good as it was on 3 years interest free credit.

But do I "need" a more expensive laptop???

I sent the guy selling this one a message asking what he actually wanted for it in reality....lol

He replied back with a will have some more in soon so I can do one as a second chance offer for the price I bid up to...........mmmmmm. So it's weird as if I had won the Auction I would have been chuffed but being offered the same for less, I sort of feel cheated. Lol

So I guess the next question is it good value and does anyone know if all the 7440 series has onboard graphics?

I do have a Latitude 7420 which is a higher spec CPU with 16Gb RAM and 1Tb SSD, but it costs more.

The person that won the laptop hasn't paid yet, if they have not paid by tomorrow am, I will offer it to you.

They're both fine machines, and they're worth what you're willing to pay for (poor response, I know!)

Not sure what you mean by this. By definition, all laptops have onboard graphics. Most have VGA or HDMI outputs but, if they don't, you can get a USB adapter for them.

Laptop graphics capabilities are generally behind desktop but that only really matters for gaming. The key question is screen size and resolution (and your eyes are the best measure of what combination works best for you). My laptop has a 14" screen and runs at 1920 x 1080, which is fine for programming, browsing the web etc. If I wanted to do more detailed work then I would probably want a larger screen.
If you're primarily browsing the web and doing a bit of CAD then a larger screen is better, and I wouldn't worry too much about "graphics performance". If you want to do modern gaming, then you'll be spending much more than £200!

Memory is the main thing for CAD, and a 16GB machine will be less frustrating than an 8GB one.

I have tried that on my old HP and it fails so....not even any good installing windows 7.
If the guy offers me that lower specced Dell for a couple of hundred quid it will tide me over while I decide if I really do want to spend more as I prefer doing the actual work on my Desktops anyway.
It's always the same with computers that you can pay a bit extra for something you don't actually "need" but "want" as it sounds better...lol

I only ask as I would prefer a 17 inch screen...

This is what I was thinking to be honest. But I just don't know enough.l of real world performance.

Ironically I had just stuck a fresh install of windows 10 on my HP and cura now installs...sadly it still does not run.

That alienware finishes in 10 hours and I can't be bothered to get up and bid..lol
