Finally got sorted at the hospital last friday at long last, foot aching but pain gone

I did 3 days of resting but couldn't stand daytime tv anymore so ventured out to the workshop to find something I could do sitting down !!!

I still needed a water pump pulley so found a bit of 6" x 2.5" round aluminium, took a few measurements and started turning, ended up with a pulley.

I had a bit of swarf to clear up !!!

I was originally gonna bore a hole in the timing case for a breather/filler as the Tbird covers have no holes but thought why not use the redundant fuel pump hole, A 1/4" stainless plate cut to shape and some bits of 1.5" bends and straight welded together, capped it off with a chrome breather cap, I will paint it satin black later.

Thats all for now as bloody foot aching !!!

They are ARP 12 point stainless, probably the finest bolts around, they are incredibly strong and you only ever buy one bolt. They also come in chrome moly and are available imperial or metric.
I'm a dealer for ARP so like to use what I sell.

Do you have a size list etc so I can put a shopping list together??

That tall breather tube should only let oil vapour out of breather and no oil.

I would have stayed well clear with that lathe chuck spinning, i normally get slapped with a big ball of swarf when its full like that

The breather tube is most likely stuffed with stainless steel pan scrubbers type material to act as oil particle capture/condensing devices .The breather cap usually also has a woven crinkled mass of capture /condensing wire in it .

Big heavy civil construction plant often have such style breathers and oil/ fluid filler tubes to keep crap out and lube in .

I've put a baffle at the base of the hole inside the cover just incase
Yes the chuck picked up a bit of swarf a couple of times

Been doing some more sitting down jobs

A previous owner of the body had done a hack job on the area where the door card sits and only left 1/2" so first job was to repair and build out the flange.










Next I started thinking about door cards, I had tufted diamond in my coupe so decided to do something different on the truck, decided on aluminum
panels that would match the seat, first job was to cut a piece of 2mm sheet to size, anything thinner would drum & resonate on a street car,
Next the holes were marked for the handle spindles and attachment bolts.










Next a piece of aluminium was plucked from the scrap bin and gave up its life to become finishers for the handles. holes were drilled in the panel to hold these in place with 5mm button heads with filled heads to resemble rivets.












Next I cut the top layer out with the plasma cutter and cleaned up all the edges with a flap wheel, added a few holes to make it tie in with the seat and be a bit more interesting.








Here it is assembled.
