You may know people sometimes paint the inside of the instrument cans white to improve the distribution of the limited lighting.
I have just bought some MGF seats to put in my MGB roadster. Conventional wisdom used to be that they don't fit in the B but do fit the Midget owing to the shape of the inner sills. However, I have seen 2 Bs this summer with them fitted. So I am going to have a go.
Someone already has painted out the inside of them white so I’ve no need to bother , the extra bright led bulbs will add a lot more light too . I may have to actually use the dash lights dimmer !
I’ve read up a LOT on seat swaps for it ( the colour combination above sold it me ) , from what I have read on it to use MG F seats u use the back / headrest off the MGF seat , and bolt it back onto the base of the MGB seat .
The base foam needs to be cut 25mm ( 1 inch) back on a slope (25mm) off the front sloping to zero at the rear .
Then you retrim the MGB base back out in the MGF foam / leather .
Yes I have seen a similar combination seat while surfing the web. The 2 cars I saw over the summer had complete MGF seats. In one case I spent some time talking to the owner about how he had done it.
I have started on the passenger side. Roadsters used to have rubber mats on the sill but I had upgraded to carpet. In order to get more clearance I have removed the carpet from the sill. Also I have lifted the tunnel carpet and cut out part of the underlay where the tunnel flares out around the back of the gear box. The seat base has been place in on its own as a test. It is fitting in with restricted fore and aft movement. The next step is to try it with the back attached. At the moment I think the backs will need to be swapped over to stop the taper towards the back of the sill conflicting with the rake adjustment wheel.
