R8 is a taper that was first used (maybe invented) by Bridgeport for their spindles. Most modern machines come with a choice of R8 or MT3 spindle taper!

Probably a stupid question but is there a problem with buying cheap make mills like buying cheap make lathes.
I know what MT is but what is R8?
