I don't recall reading how clean was the block when it went in? Did you see all of the pitting, and ask for it to be gone, or had you not cleaned off all the previous head gasket remnants, so th efaults were still covered?I will.be calling them Monday to see.
But you have to ask
If a block goes in for a rebore. Then it gets a rebore. Why would they mess with the top at all if not asked to. I mite be wrong there but I am sure they would not do work not asked to do.
And I paid for rebore and skim.
I'll.call them as said and see. This is the reason. I have never gave work out and do stuff myself. Never ask for help as there is 99% a catch somewhere.
Getting old, brain fartAre you sure you don't mean squish?
I've only ever bought custom pushrods for American engines, does anyone do them for European stuff?A heavy cut on the block and a skim on the head are going to change a few things and some may need addressing , piston height, shorter pushrod length/pedestal shims to keep valve geometry correct and compression ratio. All doable but makes for a more involved build.

Just out of curiosity , whats it off ,,,
I had thought old ford , the oil filter would be the give away for those in the know .Volvo Penta?
Best gasket sealant dressing EVER !If for any reason you decide to use as is, Stag Wellseal Jointing Compound will ensure a good joint.
Not even custom. Ford and Chevy main dealers used to do different pushrod lengths straight from the factory for this reason.I've only ever bought custom pushrods for American engines, does anyone do them for European stuff?
As an aside, the last engine I did a serious build on was a 460 Ford. The block decks were 0.012" out of parallel to the main bearings (corrected by Peter Knight).
Unlikely, from my experience. As it's derivative of the B20, is there anything to stop you using a B20 block from a breaker? Did the marinising add anything to the block casting, iow?
