I personally like the Drummond lathes. A few of the guys on here have them. As for price. Difficult to say. But condition will be key to price. I have seen the go for 120 up 450 .are the Drummond b type lathes any good and what would one in resonable condition be worth
the thing that’s really going for me is it’s only five miles away from me
It appears to be in a reasonable condition to be fair. Chucks. Change wheels. All these can definitely alter value. A Drummond the same as the pictures recently sold for £125 and was in crud condition with no goodies. But price really depends on how much you want it and what your willing to pay.View attachment 158055 View attachment 158056 View attachment 158057 View attachment 158058 View attachment 158059 View attachment 158060 View attachment 158061 View attachment 158062 Here’s some pictures the thing that’s really going for me is it’s only five miles away from me
himAny chance you could go see it and try taking a cut to gauge how it performs? Take a few shortish bits of round bar with you in case the Seller says "Can't, I've got nothing suitable for turning".....![]()
he's asking £300 for it its got everything in the pictures plus everything you need to set it up for screw cutting I'll ask if I could try itIt appears to be in a reasonable condition to be fair. Yes definitely try it. You can see what backlash there might be and any play in the headstock spindle.him

I think it disengages the power feedWhat is that rectangular bar thing below, and parallel to, the leadscrew. I saw a Drummond/Myford at a local auction earlier this month with that fitted, and wondered what it was. My Myford doesn't have it.
A friend of mine had a lathe given to him and it looks a lot like the Drummond. He says it came from a Merchant Navy vessel, there is no maker's mark on it though.
It's not that small he says its 36" longThat is quite cute, £300 sounds good to me looks like you have most things needed to get up and turning. The motor directly on to the lathe spindle is not so good it should have a countershaft to get the motor speed down by a third or so. You can make a countershaft from a couple of pulleys say 50mm and 150mm and move the triple pulley onto the countershaft, PB bearings don't like to run much over 7 or 800 rpm.
I'd have had that home already.
Looks looked after. Plenty of extras and easily moved.
