Bit the bullet and towed caravan to N. Devon.....crossed Severn bridge and cruising along the M48 toward M5 southbound and Engine malfuction came on and went into limp mode. Pulled onto hard shoulder. Switched off engine and waited a moment, fired back up and continued rest of journey. OBDII later gave no Errors all clear.
Getting back now is a bit daunting....lots of local mileage here without any issues. Can't even get a diagnostic done as nothing flagged,Had similar with Nissan truck and it was the neutral gate switch intermittent.

My Mondeo diesel started doing that on odd occasions, usually when cold. Engine light would come on, power would drop off.Bit the bullet and towed caravan to N. I agree it should...but hasn't. So maybe a ECM fault ....could even be down to mice...^^^^ What he said.
The ECU stores fault code history until cleared.
The fuel filter was changed couple years back and old filter was was spotless, no sign of dirt/water. Re-priming was a nightmare, No priming pump. The first time it came up I had a p2265 error code (water in fuel), but nothing with latest. I wasn't doing a diagnostic on the hard shoulder and no history DTC. According to the app 1,550km since last one.My Mondeo diesel started doing that on odd occasions, usually when cold. Engine light would come on, power would drop off.
Fuel filters needed changing, and it was good as gold after that.
It happened a couple of times on the motorway, when the problem first started, so I dipped the clutch, switched ignition off, then back on, fired it up, on the move, to save pulling over. And I turned off at the next junction, didn't dare go on it again until I got it fixed.
How many miles is a couple of years? I change my fuel filters every other oil change so at 20000 miles. The fuel filter was changed couple years back
I assumed Stoneacre were changing my fuel filters when they did my full annual services.... but it would appear they didn't think it necessary.....How many miles is a couple of years? I change my fuel filters every other oil change so at 20000 miles.
10,000 ish....... total miles 87,000 after 14yrs, oil change every ~6 months. Bulk oil and bulk filters. How many miles is a couple of years? I change my fuel filters every other oil change so at 20000 miles.
hmmm.....? 2:30 in....both engine malfunction events occurred on motorway at cruising speed.
Same system I think on my Kuga.
According to my cheapo obd unit there are no errors...but maybe a professional unit will pull up the history that I can't see? It's just that it ties in exactly with the circumstances. You would have a dpf fault.
You need the codes read otherwise you are stabbing in the dark. Guessing with modern vehicles or unspecific symptom searching is just wishful thinking
I can do the live readings, so I'll have quick look. You need something capable of reading E(xtended)OBD to get the full codes - but don't take them as gospel, you also need to be able to read live values, particularly pressure & differential pressure values and temperatures. DTC's can be set if a sensor is giving erroneous but still 'in range' values which indicate the problem is elsewhere. The simplest check is that all pressure values are similarly close to atmospheric and the differential exhaust pressure value is close to zero with the key on, engine off.
Got 1.3g/s MAF with engine off. Is that an acceptable zero error? 100 Kpa atmospheric 101Kpa intake all off.
It's booked in on thursday....they also seem to think the dpf is suspect. If the burner needs replacing with a genuine Ford item looking >£K1. They also say they can clean the unit if possible.
gives you something to do thenI hate cars too, I will qualify this rant too, with a new clutch for the car I bought last week. Yes, that said crying / ranting sound is me you can here, bloody cars, well, it was cheap.
