Headlight bulbs

Prior to you mentioning the ring 100w bulbs a friend recommended them so i went and ordered 2 sets of ring rally sports 100w h7 for my car, quite cheap as well!

But for arguments sake are there any other bulbs people recommend?

I had osram nightbreakers h4 previously and they were ok but i still felt they lacked.

I tried a set of cheap hid's and thought they were worse than the osrams.

Anto this is basically what i've done using 2 relays .....2 and 4 relay headlamps.....check with a multimeter first may be a waste of time ........Tysonn i drive a 1990 gti cab ,daily driver for 5years 150k just done a top end re-build due to valve stems leaking ....still got a 89 scirrocco in the shed too ....pull the lift pump out the tank and check for crud....quite common due to filler pipe rusting ,and fit new copper washers to the high pressure pump banjo ,they can be a pain otherwise.....sorry Anto

I fitted Osram Night Breaker Plus bulbs from Autobulbs to both of our Freelanders, definate improvement with no extra load on wiring as they are 60/55W. One thing I have noticed, is reflective signs stand out more with these lights.

I have 4 cibie oscars lying in the garage that would light up the night, 2 driving lamps and 2 spots but i dont reckon they would look too well on a Peugeot 306 unfortunately....

I've had Cibie's for years but can't fit them on Freelander as shells are too deep got some Hella's with slim shell's which only just fit.

I've got a couple of the big concave Bosch Rallye spots from the 80's but they're

I did see one of the ladder rack type bars mounted on the bonnet of a Montego with 4 spots on!

Go into Produkter - Bilmarke on the site and they've got pdf's for all models and how they attach. I think they make theirs from aluminum but since I don't have a tig I was thinking lightwight steel tube, maybe 2 mm or thinner.

Can't remember what i fitted to my mk1 golf ?....i do remember checking the volts at the bulb with the car running was less than 11volts ,common problem on early golfs,installed relays to get more voltage made a huge difference,not sure if Pugs have a restrictive wiring loom but worth checking

I checked my battery and headlight wiring volts and at the battery it is 14.3v and at the bulb it is 13.3v.

Does that suggest restrictive wiring?
Will the installation of relay and better wire mean i have 14.3v at the bulb?
Would 100w bulbs be fine on the standard wiring if it is receiving 13.3v already?

Modern car wiring is made to do the job reliably at minimum cost, putting 100W bulbs in would be a 50%+ current overload on the wiring so I would recommend fitting relay(s)

I was going to use the Maplins down the road as it seems to have what i need.

Il need to learn a bit more about electrics as it was never my strong point at school!
