I belive it is and @daedalusminos can search MK other posts
Excellent, thanks for the heads up, trawled the threads on here - plenty of VFD installations including @M K and his M300 but couldn't find details on VFD size and coolant pump.I’d suggest you join the HarrisonLathes group at groups.io
Good point - that'll probably force me to run a new feed.make sure it doesn’t have an RCD/RCBO on the circuit or the VFD’s EMC filter is disabled
Do we knowing the spindle bush for the 300 is the same as the 11”/140?Three spindle bushes. Blimey not sure why any one would need three unless they was doing a lot of repetitive work.
Three Jacobs chucks always useful.
Maybe they did a lot of turning between centres what with two dog/catch plates
The M300 is 5MT spindle bush normally stepped to 3MT .. not sure on the 11”/140? (but just googled it and a thread on here comes up, apparently it's 4.5MT!!)
For turning between centres, I generally prefer to just chuck some bar stock and turn a 60° point onto the end of it. It's guaranteed to be spot-on accurate as it's turned in place.
Thanks, most informative group, answered all my questions but dare say I'll be back for more when I actually get the lathe shifted.I’d suggest you join the HarrisonLathes group at groups.io
That's good to hear.Yes, I've bought oil from them. The gearboxes and apron on my M300 are full of it. 3 years use so far and its not let me down.
£1500, supposedly a travelling steady lurks somewhere, I know they'll let me know if they find it but I don't hold out much hope.how much was it again
Has it got the soft jaws?£1500, supposedly a travelling steady lurks somewhere, I know they'll let me know if they find it but I don't hold out much hope.
PB list the jaws as available spares so I'm hoping concentricity is maintained.
Yes several sets of soft jaws, 3xJacob chucks, live/dead centres etcHas it got the soft jaws?
You could run it off a 3 pin plug, but you need to make sure it doesn’t have an RCD/RCBO on the circuit or the VFD’s EMC filter is disabled. I run my machines off a separate circuit as I have a VFD in my M300 and four VFDs in my mill, the earth leakage from the filters would be constantly tripping an RCD.
No steadies at all?
.
True. But when you need a fixed steady for a job, it’s an absolute ball ache if you haven’t got one.Travelling steady is easy to make, but steadies are not something you would use everyday, so Id not be overly worried by that, or the chuck for that matter, as long as the bed is ok, and the gear box hood, the rest is sortable over time.
