Right okay. I’ve got that off but not stripped it down. Will have to wait till lathe is built back up to assess that.The cush drive is inside the smooth round bit with castellated end about 1 1/2" " long that slides on the leadscrew, Its right hand end is the threaded bit. The drive is transmitted with two 1/4" dia ball bearings that rest in holes, the conical spring washers hold them in engagement & are set so if too much sideways force is applied to the saddle when its being driven by the leadscrew it will slip before anything gets broken.
