Tomorrow I will get the carriage back on the lathe and get the gears sprayed with the brake cleaner to make sure it’s completely free of grease and grime before I stick the cross slide and compound back on.
Just got the rear gib to clean as well before that goes back on.
I have got two broken gib screws though so will need to source them. One on the rear gib for the carriage and one on the cross slide.
Unsure of size though.
After that, all that is left is the screwcutting gearbox. Bit daunting but hopefully like the carriage I can get away without taking the gears out to just flush the crap out and give it a good clean. As far as I can tell nothing is wrong with its function although I can’t for the life of me figure out how to select all the right feeds and speeds.
