Nothing in the head other than the litte heatsheld washers so I've fitted them without. A Google search suggests some had them and some didn't depending on age.Normally come with a washer and a heat shield, have a dig about in the head.

An almighty cracking / knocking noise on start up
The engine turned over about three times and I shut it off, it didn't fire as no diesel had got to the injectors yet.
I checked the timng belt, crank, pump, cam pointers were all set correctly and all are ok, everything is as it shoud be and it seems to turn over ok with a ratchet on the crank.
I tried it again figuring if it's bent the valves or something it won't do more damage and it sounded as normal trying to start as the fuel came through, it started to fire up and runs ok .
I have been thinking overnight that I sprayed some brake cleaner in the injector holes to clean them out with cotton buds , could this have ignited at the wrong time as its more volitile and caused the knocking noise?
I'm feeling really down now as I just needed to get somthing done so I can get on with life.
Thanks for looking
Had an episode like that myself recently.Yes. Go on. now snap a couple of glowplugs off in order to test the compression. Then you will be happy
I have one of those kits, and I have never found that any of the supplied dummy injectors fit anything !
They are brand new glow plugs, I only fitted them on Sunday with a tiny smear of copper slip on the threads.Yes. Go on. now snap a couple of glowplugs off in order to test the compression. Then you will be happy
