Mine has a thermostat so yeah I suppose it could be.
If you want to do that you might be better off getting a heater that heats water not air.
That way you could run the heater flat out to heat a tank and it would switch off once hot. Then the tank warm the space slowly and once its cool the heater would fire up again.
The setup would take a bit of thinking
Running any make of diesel heater at low power for a long time seems to be a guaranteed way to fill them with soot.

Could run the exhaust through a larger pipe like a balanced-flue boiler, so it warms the incoming air, I guess? A bit like the air-cooled beetle's heater.
Unless you ran a combustion-air intake pipe outside?

you could warm the air before entering the diesel heater however it may change something
may over heat it
if you used the exhaust heat to heat the air inside of the workshop it may affect the fan area sort of a preheat for the blower air input
personally id rather use the extra heat to heat a water tank or a radiator system at least that would give you some type of hot water

I did not take the 10% into account no - thankfully only 1 outside wall. The workspace is two stories and is insulated between floors (I only want to heat the lower space) and the stairs are through a door away from the main workspace.
Draft wise it is pretty good - it is all brick built and non drafty but does have a single skin metal door I plan on insulating with 25mm PIR.

First one I bought I think two or three didn't turn up and refunded, latest on was £65 and arrived 3 days later!
Just pay via Paypal incase of any issues, lots of advice and some shocking poor installations on the Chinese Diesel heater pace on Farce book, some of the manufacturer actually post how to videos on the group as at the end off the day they want them to work for you so they can sell more

Heat recovery using an EGR cooler seems to work well from what I've seen.

Got this running today, made a little stand for it and a couple of holes in the side of the container for the exhaust/inlet. I'd hate to see what a 2kw one was like if this is 8kw, not as hot as I was hoping but maybe I'm just expecting too much anyway, however it does pump a fair bit of heat out. At a later stage heat recovery from the exhaust could be worth looking at as there is one hell of a lot of heat exhausted outside.

Your container will suck up all the heat initially, I run mine in a wooden shed and it's great.
I could be wrong but I think a lot of the supposed 8kw units are actually 5kw.
Something also rings a bell about the 8's been physically bigger than a 5 (but that could be a 5 and a 8 are the same size and both are bigger than a 2....)

Yeah metal boxes aren't the best to try and heat and retain heat, the sun does a good job of it just at the wrong time of year. Wickes had some rolls of that bubble wrap insulation going cheap the other day so I took advantage with the mindset that it would at least stop the roof condensation, just need to get round to sticking it up.
Not sure on the sizes, never had another one to compare it. It wouldn't surprise me if it was nowhere near 8kw and was actually a 5 claiming to be 8. It probably is an 8kw... those magical chinese kw's, similar to the chinese lumens.

No they are actually 4kw but still amazing value.
We run ours 12 hours a day 5 days a week flat out on kero. Make sure you recirculate the warm air. Don't heat it from outside.
Ours consumes about 30L of kero a week.
£40 a week electric £15 a week kero soon pays for itself!
