Well done, great work. I started my change wheel area an hour ago before everyone gets up, its in a very similar state. Doubt the results will look like that though!
Dont envy you cleaning that out I'm sure it will look like new soon though. Re the Cap screws I am having a hard time with my Harrison deciding if they should be painted over or not. Seems whoever painted mine was half in mind too as some are covered and others not! Same in the change wheel area some of the bright finished parts are over sprayed and the motor is thinly sprayed with Harrison beige over the G.E.C original blue.

Sorry, No idea as my lathe is different. Do you want the shaft out behind the knob? If you are sure the shaft just slides out then I would grind a small amount of thread off a appropriate bolt so that it bottoms out in the threaded hole and knock the shaft through, rather than pulling it off and breaking the plastic!
