Was it a user called . and the thread and user was deleted then he came back under another name?
I've got a 15 or more year old tin of Mipa PU brushable seam sealer, worked as it should when I used it a couple of years ago. It's very thick and sticky if you switch to a PU seam sealer it's best to use a proper seam sealer brush if you don't already.

So I might be a bit of knob, I bought this spray able seam sealer gun ages ago primarily for the underside
It's a bit splatery in use and leaves quite a rough finish but a bit of testing and it seems to brush out quite nicely, looks like it should do the trick just going to be a bit more masking up

So with an achey wrist I splattered some different goop on, not perfect but I'm done with it 
Much cleaning and dusting then 3 coats of colour wet on wet, not perfect, never going to be by a non professional trying to get into the nooks and crannies! Anyhow it's under the bonnet and you don't see much when it's fitted up and the lids closed!
Lacquer over the next day or 2

Not perfect but good enough
I have to say it does make a difference buying decent primers and paint, apart from the seam sealer debacle...
