I've considered in the past the practicality of doing them in the lathe. Need a method to accurately degree the spindle then lock it in place and run a tool back and forth. Essentially poor mans shaper.
Changewheels are handy for that.
I've already ground a tool and got the dividing head, but I was going to do it in the mill. However it involves making the quill lock and also being able to set a reliable zero, which my mill cannot currently do.I could measure the spline and grind a slotting tool to match it but I don't have any way of indexing a part to actually cut the spline.

Beyond me and I don't have a rotary broach toolI'd make a wobble broach and broach them through. Can make a cutter in an hour or so.
