Anyway 123hotchef maybe start looking in the area of EN19 / 4140 steel - good tensile strength and shock resistant. It wouldn't surprise me if the high tensile item you showed in your first post pick was made out of something along those lines.

I wouldn't have any problem making one from EN19. Can't see how any force that you could apply through the steering would bend that idler shaft my guess is it's had a clout whilst off-roading or something.

That is exactly what happened I did say that somewhere at the beginning of this thread, when I snapped the inner TRE too
