Because the opening post was asking who can make one I've assumed it's not on the shelf.

ok the first original kit is a upgraded king pin made from the HT steel with bronze bushes available from the USA as a upgrade

Looking at the pictures in post 35 the bearings and thrust washer appear to be plastic.

Picture in post 1 shows oil lite type bearings, so possibly a rebuild kit?

The idler shaft will be only available in a rebuild kit or complete unit which I suspect either is some what expensive?

Also being as the part is made in Japan, it may not be easily available or waiting time could be a factor, I once had to wait 8 weeks for a water pump for my FJ40 Land Cruiser.

the new part I have feels quite quality made in Japan I have this but wanted to upgrade it with bronze bushings, but it appears to be well sealed unless it can all be removed from the bottom.

no humptys mate, it is a L200
the jap part is OEM equivalant

I think I would be more concerned at what caused the binding than making the part a bit stronger, an idler arm should not be feeling that sort of load.

playing hard off road does load parts with abnormal loads that they are not designed for that is why we make them stronger, the idler bent a little, then later on in the day the inner track rod snapped and the idler bent some more! the inner track rod has been uprated to a rose joint, the outer track rod was uprated to a rose joint 1.5 years ago it is evolving lol

do you think so looks well made, not sure I want to break it apart! looks like the lid is stamped in and the edges folded over

Getting that taper to finish in the right place would be pretty good fun.

I could make one but it would take a bit of time on my little 3hp lathe. Lot of material to turn off that largest diameter.

Its only one cut???

Would you turn the taper by using the top slide Pete or would you off set the tail stock?
Other than the taper it doesn't look particularly challenging to make. Like you say most of the time involved in that is removing a lot of material from the stock.
