[Rig Pig]

I make a jig using two side plates and a piece in between fixed at a shallow angle. Clamp the belt to it and grind/sand/file the belt to a taper with a step at the end. Do both ends and then clamp the ends together in the jig. I used either evo stick or polyurethane glue


That's great thanks, I'll have a look at rejointing like that.

Morning everyone.
Finally feeling better today so going to have a good clean up and do a bit in the workshop .still don't 100 percent but I can function without going dizzy. Have not had a smoke since Friday. This morning was the first time I have had a cup of tea in six days. But am on the mend

Had an ok day. Got the workshop cleaned up and more organised. And started putting the other parts together for the motor bracket.

Hi . Sorry for the late reply. I did measure my old belt and it's 73 inches long so unfortunately your bit would be to short. But thanks again.

Today I made a start on prep work on the fixed steady. Paint strip. Clean. Then a night in the citric. Done a little tidy work with the die grinder as the casting was rough. Ready for primer now.

What paint are you using on this and how are you applying it (brush, roller), it looks a really good finish? I've got a Victoria U2 with a vertical head that's in need of a repaint and I keep saying I'm going to do it when I have the time.

I am using tractor enamel paint. I use the enamel primer. Then I do a first coat. Leave for six days and then a second coat. I have brush painted the entire machine. It's easy to apply and gives a nice finish. I could of sanded between coats but no need on this ol machine as it's rough castings . Also the enamel paint eats rollers. Literally eats them.

Another small batch of parts in primer. Will give these a day then I can apply the first coat.

On the big castings I was shoving it on with a brush then rolling to finish. Don't get long before they disintegrate.

Yer it's almost impossible to roll before they disintegrate. A good set of brushes and you can get a nice finish.

I always find a bit of linseed oil & pure turpentine added to the paint, (would need to make a small test mix to make sure they mix well with the paint), works wonders for making the paint flow when brush painting. Makes a world of difference to the finish.

Prefer the little bits myself. Did the M the wrong way around. Want the cabinet finished first so I can rebuild a bit as I finish each part.

Got a coat of tops on today. And cleaned another batch of small parts. One more batch of parts to go.
