In the end I got a couple of decent quotes for the patio, they are due to start a week on Monday. That leaves all next week to get the wall finished. If your doing the patio it would make sense to buy a mixer? sell it on after?
brush the snots off when its nearly dry otherwise you will smear the bricksKeep going, at that rate its only going to take 44 days, so it'll be done before the summer gets here.
As @mtt.tr says, don't try pointing it until its started going off, then just touch it up with a pointing trolley and brush it off with a soft brush and it'll look lovely.
Look after them, tea/coffee cake etc and get them to do the wall?In the end I got a couple of decent quotes for the patio, they are due to start a week on Monday. That leaves all next week to get the wall finished.![]()
Or a short piece of 15mm copper pipe.Or trowel hilt
Sorry to keep on but when i built my place ,as I said it took forever, A mate (a carpenter/builder) and asked why it was taking so long. . After the normal banter I asked him to check the verticality of the walls which were to about 1/8". He replied " as long as they are within 2" per floor that's OK, just stop f*****g about its not an engineering project and get on with it"Looking at some of the modern houses round here, it looks like they still haven’t been![]()
I did this 3 years ago when I relaid all the brick work on the patio (because the builder who built it the first time insisted on putting mild green in it!!!).If your doing the patio it would make sense to buy a mixer? sell it on after?
I purchased the Belle mixer 20 years ago and apart from the electric motor Capacitor replacement it is still working well and has done two extensions over the years. Before all this premix stuff they were a standard on small jobs. They are about £500 now.I did this 3 years ago when I relaid all the brick work on the patio (because the builder who built it the first time insisted on putting mild green in it!!!).
I laid just under 1200 bricks, 20 blocks, a handful of coping stones and mixed up about a yard of concrete for the wife's new shed.
I paid £220 for it new from Screwfix, just sold iit for £180! Waaaaaaay cheaper than renting if you're as slow as I am!![]()

Yes I have one too, well worth buying if you do jobs your self, and have space to store one. Best 150 Quid Ive spent in tools, far less grief than mixing by hand.bought 2 of em new 45 years ago . new one electric one petrol £150 each still got both in good nick not a dent on em
And if you haven't got space then you can use your new mixer to build space. At least I'm hoping that's how it works.Yes I have one too, well worth buying if you do jobs your self, and have space to store one. Best 150 Quid Ive spent in tools, far less grief than mixing by hand.
