Je t'adore.. Yes, darling, I did shut the door..Not sure that Rodders said that, but in the same vein.
Ive not seen that lemonade in years.
Used to make us giggle as kids.
Bizarrely enough that same word (slang) spelt thé english way refers to a class B drug some sort of resin derived from hemp type plants..
Nice...Going back to les electriques, the ring main in UK was adopted to save on copper, post war. But I have to laugh a bit whe the EU had a go at the UK for having the three pin plugs with fuses and rectangular pins as 'not in keeping with the EU norms. Yer Right.... Spain a and Portugal use what T think is a German standard, France use another and Italy yet one more. No wonder the sellers of travel adapters do quite well.
With the branch system, it is at leas easier to find faults. If the diff trips, one puts all the trips off and gradually turn them on until the diff trips again, then chase down what's on that circuit.
A French Frend has this ancient pile that has been in the familly since 1640.. And while the electrics don't date from then, they are pretty crude and I frequently have to find out which part of the house is causing the current problem. Luckily there are quite a lot of breakers, so can quickly find the zone. Curing the whole lot is something I don't want to contemplate.
Our gaff had wiring which was rubber coated and fabric wrapped in the older bits. plenty of copper on viewLike Matt, I am just getting on with it, with an eye on the French Norms; Four different distribution boards for the various bits of the house, so far...
The inspection, if you want to sell, is advisory, unless something risky. So could be used as a bargining chip in the sale.
The thermal efficiency estimate is based on your electrical consumption in the past months, not the insulation of the house So, some friends cut their electrical use right down for the period before they put it on the market. Don't know how much that influenced the sale, but they got a good price quickly...
Nice sunny day here, but looking at showers tomorrow. So railings in the W/shop. Bread and butter stuff. Just finished the details on the engine swop on a 30 ft yacht in La Rochelle. Owner in UK and not been able to visite for quite a while, maybe late next year? Plus is, he says I can use it any time I like. Things could be worse.

Totally agree, the micky-mouse 2-pin euro arrangement is pathetic. I presume the French rule for spurs instead of ring mains results from un-fused plugs.I’ve found the U.K. plug to be the best in the world. First thing, the safety aspect, earthed, polarity is fixed etc, and can’t stuff nails, wire, kids toys in the holes.
Plus, they fit flush against the wall, so you don’t have wires poking out 3” perpendicular to the wall, so you can push furniture up against it etc.
