Adventures With An Old 206

@Hood think I've made a poor choice with this mirror dashcam in the link above. The hardware looks pretty good tbh but the "mirror" is an issue. I took it that it would be a normal, regular mirror when not displaying the front/rear image. It's just one big screen. Aside from that there seems to be a problem with the rear cam working only intermittently. Then sometimes it just displays a screen of "fuzz". I don't think I can get on with this.

I never use mine as a mirror as all I would see is the top of the seats due to the position I have it (on dash) and even if it was where a rear view mirror would normally be then I wouldn't see anything as the van has no windows in the back I think it does work ok as a mirror though when you switch off the screen but I would have to check. Mine is always on rear view so it imitates a rear view mirror which is perfect for me and certainly no issues with poor/fuzzy images so far after about 3 years but I suppose next time I am in the van it will pack up .

If I can get it to work that it shows the rear view on constant view but still records front and rear, then I might be happy to have that in my car. I can't see her getting on with it.

Just here hunting all the other cheapo / broken dashcams we've had here over the years trying to make one good one! Something I should have done a couple of weeks ago!

That is the way I use mine, on rear view all the time but it records front and rear constantly also. It is supposed to be able to be used as a mirror if you turn the screen off but as said no use to me with it being an enclosed van so I have never tried. But even in that mode it is always recording front and rear. No idea whether yours can do the same or not but I would imagine it would.

It does sound like yours is faulty. I had seen a lot of reports about other makes not being that great but the Wolfbox ones seemed to have good reviews so I paid the wee bit extra for it and so far it has been great.

How can I tell what chip, is it written on it?

Lexia and pp2000 are as one you need to know what you are doing with the keys try one of the pug forums they used to have a list of people that would help with lexia and pp2000

The "new" 2008 206, 1.4i petrol:

Injector No 4 has gone open circuit. Had them all out, 12 ohms across the other 3 but No4 is duff. (They're different on the old 206).

Local factors couldn't even match the number

Amazon, eBay etc, nothing available for delivery tomorrow. I can get an original Valeo one on Tuesday for circa £40 (from ABM in Plumstead).

No real issue paying that but I came across this eBay ad, 4 for the price I'll pay for one:

I think £33 for 4 fuel injectors must say it all about the quality and lifespan surely? run away

I've gone for 4 Valeo injectors, as original, at £37ea plus the dreaded. Singularly it was £41ea +VAT.

£176 for 4 injectors later and it's running, no surprise, better than before. I was expecting Valeo ones but got these Lemark instead. Checked the resistance on each before fitting. Time will tell. Price seems OK comparing on the net.

I'll clean up and keep the 3 that test OK as spares.
