Running Tig welder from house supply

How can you manage to fit that size of cable into 13A plug??

Mines hooked up to 2.5 flex which a 13amp just nicely nests itself onto

Plus are only really designed to handle 1.5mm2 3 core, sticking 2.5mm2 3 core in is GENERALLY possible but can be a pain and can end up with bad terminations and hot spots...

If your going 2.5mm2

then you might as well go

4mm2 H07RN-F 3 core
into 32Amp Blue Plug
connected to a 13amp plug to 32amp socket flylead for future proofing

But until you get a 32Amp socket and suitable supply then your restricted to what the machine can do on 13Amps..

That's exactly what I do, put the correct cable and plug for its maximum rating then use an adapter to suit. Just seems the proper way.

I would not be happy with 10mm cable in a 13A plug

id give u a bloody medal -if u could get 10.0mm in a 13 amp plug .2.5mm max and that's pushing it

I shall fit this cable keep everything low an give it a try if this does'nt work, i'll try it in my other supply an if there's no joy it'll be time for a sparky to have a look at it. An if it's a no go on 13amp supply i may as well get the blue plug fitted ready

For medal purposes, how much 10mm cable has to fit in the plug, can I cut parts and does it have to work?

So i've opened it up looks like theres a crack in the cable where it goes into the welder so i reckon it broke connection when i tryed it on my supply, so fingers crossed once i've put a new cable in i can at least get it started on low amps. The power cable has some kind of push in fitting on the welder side does anyone know what these are called can i re-use these or should i buy new?

There just 6.35mm uninsulated crimp connectors.
Not reusable and you need the crimp tool mate. Get both on flea bay

Don't re use them that's just asking for a short and potentially more problems. Make up a nice new cable with new insulated crimps. Don't start a job with especially with high voltage electrics unless your going to do it properly.

As rich says you could use the insulated female terminals. Think you would need blue and yellow fully insulated 6.3 females.
Dunno what crimping tool you have but as Mr fuzzy said a ratchet crimper should be used and they are different tools for insulated and uninsulated

So I got some of them connectors but there not same ones as the ones fitted to the welder they have a male attachment on them for another wire to feed in. Will I need to get some of these? Anybody know what there called? Could I just crimp both wires straight in to connector instead I presume there like that just for ease of changing parts?

Just crimp both wires into one yellow female Ben I do it all the time mate

Thanks for all your help everyone who has chipped in were up an running, must have been the wire. Seems to be fine sockets not getting warm an no popping electric, h/f sparks no problem looks like I've got myself a nice little machine. Much appreciated
