Digit extracted I have started work on a new welding bench, nothing special just a 50mm x 50mm x 3mm frame with a 3mm top, open fronted so I can sit and Tig weld with the Mig, Tig and plasma cutter stored under the bench.
Bracing still to be added, top size is 1800mm x 800mm and height adjustable from 900mm to 1100mm with the 12mm stainless feet. Mig & Tig bottle will have to go at the end as too tall to fit under the bench.
Old welding bench, 32" x 18" surface table on a Dexion frame built by my Father back in the late 70's. Wheels added some years back sourced from the scrap yard. Surface table is going on the new bench and the frame will be a temporary trolley for the Tig & plasma cutter until I build one.

well thats my layout in the garage complete for now. happy with where everything is, just have to stick the tig plant under the bench.

I can only seem to find ¼, ½ and ¾ on the character map.
Edit: Further down the character map I found ⅓, ⅔, ⅛, ⅜, ⅝ and ⅞. They really should be grouped together.

Ditto. Well, I did have - but I've used a lot of the 'just in case' stuff up in the past couple of years doing work on my building, and that's why I'd collected the stuff in the first place. I knew what would be useful at some point, especially when I was doing all sorts for other people and there was a pile of stuff that had been ripped out and perfectly re-useable or simply surplus at the end.I've got boxes of circuit boards, wires, power supplies, etc that I never use but I keep them "just in case".
<holds head in hands>its even worse when u drill through a heating pipe or nail one in someones house and u put your finger over the hole to stop it and get burnt and have to let go and all the black sludge goes over there best white carpetand the job u were doin was only 50 quid
Oh, jeez. I did almost exactly that. 800 quid it cost his insurance company and I'm glad they coughed up and not me.

Since I'm here on this thread, I thought I'd add a bench or two 
This bench was knocked up out of pallets 20 years ago when I first moved here and had a tin garage at the back of a rented cottage, so this was constructed as a temporary measure. It's lasted well, longer than I ever thought it would and has seen a lot of action.
These two stainless benches were picked up several years ago at a factory closing sale - I got there on Day Three of the sale, the first two days were by invite only, and the best stuff had been picked over by the local gannets /traders / dealers. However, I took a wander around the back and found these, apparently overlooked by the mob and when I collared a factory rep, he was in the mood of just wanting them gone so asked me for a tenner each. I suspect the security bloke who poked his nose into my business was keeping them aside for himself.
The one with the toolbox is a permanent tool bench, and the wider one will be for engine rebuilding - this is on the clean side of the 'shop.

well I couldn't get a good camera angle so I was stood on my workbench. They are 85cm high, 75cm deep and 250cm long. 50x50 box and heavy gauge tread plate ( though I think the actual name for it is "rolled diamond mesh" possibly?) for the bottom shelf. Theory being its not so easy for stuff to roll off and it wont collect dust etc so easily.
