Should have done the job just before you went home, stiink should have gone by Monday
I did consider it but I didn't fancy the idea of heating metal to melt plastic that was used to contain petrol and then leaving the building.Should have done the job just before you went home, stiink should have gone by Monday![]()

To someone with less of a concern about the H&S aspects? They were still a bit twitchy about the H&S aspects so the long-term fix was to sub the whole job out.

Is this down to age, or the new fangled fuel do you think ?A bit of early morning induction heater action.
The fuel pick up and return boss is a melt fit to the tank. It had to come off as the rubber pipes and steel stubs have rotted away.
The workshop stinks now.

Age and poor storage as it hasn't been used/run in decades and the fuel in there would have been pre-mix two stroke. It's only done 7,700 Kms and looking round it I reckon most if not all of that was done in the '70s and '80s.Is this down to age, or the new fangled fuel do you think ?
Jebus! Parts cost (albeit without crank) for my V8 which has 8x the cylinders was under £1k.In case anyone's interested in actual costs for the Raptor engine rebuild, I've checked it all over now that it's washed, priced up the parts and it's £2,000:00. That's to remove the engine, strip it, clean and check everything, supply a new crank, main bearings, timing chain, gaskets and seals, rebuild it, and refit the engine. As near as makes no odds it's an even split between parts and labour.

Where did you source those? They look like the delphi sigma connectors (24 pin each?). I've got those connectors on the ecu I built for my engine and the straight ones would work well (wiring loom goes straight out the back of the ECU).The difference angled back shells make to neatening up a loom around large connectors is well worth the expense.

Genuine parts for most things are horrendously expensive now. All the costs for materials and manufacturing have (and continue) gone up, add on tariff/Brexit tantrums and it's an expensive game for anything where they're not shifting parts in big numbers.Jebus! Depends what canal. According to the news lately, some of them don’t have one.Have they been sat at the bottom of a canal?

He restores Can Ams to 'as new' and bought about 20 of them that had been 'stored' at a farm. In typical farmer fashion they were randomly shoved in hedges, behind buildings, in sheds that had long since lost any kind of weather protection etc. They were scrap basically.Have they been sat at the bottom of a canal?

No, he goes completely the opposite. Stripped to the bone and everything original that's possible is refurbished/reconditioned as new or better, anything else is replaced. Frames etc are blasted and CeraKoted which is closer to original than powder and a better finish but tougher than paint.I've seen "restorations" which are just a clean up, blow over with paint and polish the shiny bits so it looks nice, is he one of those?.

This makes me feel slightly less ashamed of mine:Some home made tinsel from yesterday's efforts.
In early this morning so I took the opportunity to clean down the lathe as part of the pre-Christmas workshop tidy.
