Today our lad came round & lit up the forge, hasnt been lit for a couple of years but he has a week off before he goes back to work.
Just a bit of practice work today so a bracket to hang a riding light off on the back of the house, Other half has been asking for a new light over the steps for a while. Cold outside but the forge was warm!
The Anvil was Nicks Grandad's he rescued it from the old Benfleet forge when it closed down about 60 years ago & it became a garden ornament.
It is a 4 1/2cwt wrought iron job with hard steel top forge welded on, sway backed & has a bad crack in it at one end & side of the deck.
You can see the crack just to the right of the bracket in the last photo. I dont think i will try & fix it, too much risk of it going wrong. Think we will just live with it!
