That doesn’t look fixed!
That doesn’t look fixed!
Another Ranger in, this time for a head gasket.
Body off for only a head gasket?
That's what I thought. Ridiculous design, what the hell were they thinking?Body off for only a head gasket?
Is it though - a hand full of fasteners from cab to frame, unplug wiring loom, disconnect steering etc, and lift away for fantastic access? That's what I thought. Ridiculous design, what the hell were they thinking?
That’s an unbelievable amount of work.Body off for only a head gasket?

I guess it encourages most people to take them to a garage for repair.

I saw a two post lift online that had 2 sets of arms, one on the outer side of the posts and the other on the inside like a normal two poster , specially made for lifting bodies off of chassis’s while still being able to raise or lower the chassis. Probably perfect for Range Rover brake pipes?Body off for only a head gasket?
Then when the car's a few years old, a blown head gasket could write the car off as too expensive to repair![]()

id fitted it in the best place logically, but i had the inlet and outlet reversed. doh.

O lovely, wet belt too.
I just did the son in-law Ranger's head gasket, in place.

My neighbour’s 2014 Ranger has been written off sub 100kms, needs engine replacing but best quote was €18,000![]()
At least 10 years ago a prop shaft U/J was £147 + VAT for a 2.0 , a clutch kit around £400 and a DMF was nearly £600Was it a 3.2? These newer 2.0s are actually surprisingly cheap. We bought a brand new crate engine for under 4k.
I got most of it done and left work at 11:30 last night. That's fixed enough for me..
The 3.2s are much easier to work on. But if you have a 2-post at your disposal taking the body off makes working on the engine so much more comfortable.
Yep, it just makes working on the engine so much easier. The next one i'm probably just going to lift the body then pull the engine out entirely. To drop the sump (to clean the pickup and change the oil pump belt.) you need to remove the steering rack, O/S driveshaft and hub. Pulling the engine and putting on a stand is easier.
