new mig torch, bought a cheapy to make sure my modification would work as need a fly lead to dinse plug for power connection...it does work but i had to drill the cable lug out more than id like so will take a trip out tomorrow and get a better lug for it. providing there are no issues over next few weeks i will upgrade to something a bit nicer, although that said, just having a torch with the right length and angle swan neck has made a massive difference. quick test weld just now flat out at 250 amps and not only is it comfier, it doesnt get hot, or atleast not as quickly, the old torch would have been smoking after 15 seconds at 250...this one was still cold after the same weld.

I'm hoping I do. This can be a practice run, I've got a couple of small (maybe 1:43) Audi quattro white metal kits where stuff like the gear lever and pedals are separate items, so I need to build up to them.

What a machine. Have one at work. Some quirks. They have the original tooling cabinet with all the accessories
Make a simple 6 foot long by 3 foot high solar heating panel using sprayed matt black tight profile wriggly tin or alu profile sheet behind glass & boxed in using a wooden frame & mastic sealant etc, , put it above the tank perhaps on two sections of a 10 foot ladder & anchor it down incase it gets breezy . Each day trickle hose piped in cold water during the hours of say 10.00 till 17.00 hrs. , run the water through the top end of the enclosed panel into the tank. You'll be surprised as to how warm it will become as you have a fantastic unrestricted sun much of the day at your place . A guy close to me makes and sell simple systems like this , 3 hrs. of overcast or better still sun made his standard 50 gallon insulated hot water tank display far too hot to be hand bearable after 3 hrs of sun.
There are plenty designs for such cheap solar heat panels on many Prepper's websites stop the hose at 17.00 hrs and restart next morning
It might get too hot and come apart . Though a steam cleaner heating input tank water would be good if he had one and wanted to lay out the cost & time for fuel.
I can put a copper coil on my pressure washer input and use a small gas forge to heat up to 65 oC
I made a simple hood out of 2mm black plastic sheet 700 long by 600 wide . Tied it over so it looked like an American letterbox and also used a piece of gash clean white ogee guttering 1m long .For anyone who has or is considering buying this Laser Level unit (link in other thread above), and may wish to use it for longer range outside/landscape type work, in bright sunlight you might require a laser level detector, this one works with my unit.
Set your levels light output level to the low solid light setting, this detector doesn't seem to like the pulse or the bright settings emitted by this unit this might change on a really bright day...
I have tried this on a damp overcast day over a fair distance.

Secured the laser to a stout fixed post sledge hammered in the ground with screws zeroed the laser switch laser on point mailbox towards mail box position laser and bring the gutter concave towards the back of the mailbox ,, it doesn't take lon to locate the beam , set the beam height a few mm away from the laser on the guttering then using a fine point sharpie dotted it , then made 5mm graduations on the concave face for a foot either side of the zero dot . also marking with + & - as to which ay was too high or low then numbered them outwards from zero..
It works well in blazing sun and is easier at pre dusk if you want to check everything you did in the day . ( 80m of shuttering for a concrete pour in a few week time . Having the laser level screw mounted on a stout vertical post in the middle of an area allows east transfer of set points and repositioning in a differed position . was going to set a 6 foo 3x3" post in a 12 litre tub of concrete to make the laser mounting post easy to move around and recalibrate from know point already made but didn't need to as I was able to pick up several repositioning points as the job progressed

A cheap bench power supply to run my dental motors, under no load the volt meter agrees with my Fluke down to 10mV, I'll warm up some big resistors with it tomorrow and see what it can really do.

If you do that you will seriously shorten the life of the pump seals, valves and o rings.
Most of them can only handle luke warm water at most.
There are pumps designed to run on hot water but they are rare and expensive!
