anyone got split A/C in their home?

So which one would cover a mobile gassing machine that tracks the cars down the production line as it fills them?

I'd say the one that covers vehicle systems - for no other reason that it's basically the same (I would expect) as the ones we use in workshops, with the addition of (again, I would expect) flexible connections to logging systems, vacuum, power & refrigerant - the refrigerant storage and recharging of it would / should be covered under a fixed installation, probably using the same qualification as fire system 'engineers' have for F-gas...

I'm not sure there is a 'higher standard' that covers it all (I had to do two separate qualifications), knowing JLR, they either paid for the minimum training they could get past H&S and / or legal -or- paid a fortune to some consultant to come up with a bespoke course, who pocketed the fee and sent you all on the minimum training they could get away with....

It was probably the latter, as a big company it seems suppliers just add a few zeros to any quote/bill they send in a previous job I used to do a lot of ordering parts, services etc. and used to cringe when I saw some of the quoted prices JLR got.

from what I remember, there;s fgas for car aircon type stuff, one for fixed systems under 5kg of gas, then one for over 5kg (I've got the over 5kg one)

there's a different ticket/number/whatever for doing CO2 stuff because of the high pressures

some places make you have an extra ticked specifically for brazing refrigerant pipe work - it's covered under fgas already but apparently places like Amazon want the extra ticket


I think (aka half remember) there's another ticket for larger systems with flammable gas, (R290/propane and it's mixes) but.... everything over a very small systems are pretty much banned so it's a waste of time

I had two split units for two bedrooms at my house in Indonesia. They were only used at night and worked very well. I also had one of them hooked to a water tank, so the extracted heat provided hot water as a by product, which also made the a/c more efficient.

The split AC units used all over the place in Spain cost €600 including fitting for a Daikin inverter type!

The place I go out there got a new one last year - the previous one finally having given up the ghost after 18 years of flawless service and benign neglect. I think it was a Hyundai, or maybe Mitsubishi, can’t remember.

yeah id eyeballed them in the hardware shops when on holiday , 600 all in sounds more like it

plodding through the websites here i spotted one that offers fitting , extra 1500£ !! doesnt seem like its more than a days work to me so a bit rapey

I have a split AC unit, Mitsubishi FT25 in my garage. It provides cooling in summer and heating in the winter, and much more cheaply than my old electric heater.

I paid 1600€ for the pump including assembly.

It wasn't something I made, it was bought off the shelf. It was fitted outside and basically ran a coil through the water tank in series with the condenser output. No moving parts to go wrong either.

I’m interested in fitting some of these. Am I right in thinking it’s just the pipes that need to be drilled through the walls and the inside unit just recycles air in the room (ie no air duct to feed in from outside )?

That's right just a small hole about 65mm for the two refrig pipes and power.
