I had one of those "running behind"messages for a delivery due on Sat 4th, it turned up today, never had one before.

Ebay has gone from being adequate in postal updates to being over-enthusiastic.
"Your parcel has been given a tracking number"
"Your parcel has been despatched / dropped off at a pickup point"
"Your parcel is on its way"
"Your parcel has arrived at its UK destination (our onward shipping point)"
"Your parcel has loitered around for days now and we don't care"
"Your parcel is on a ferry or maybe an aircraft, so shrug"
"Your parcel is in Doobalin, so that's a thing"
"Your parcel has encountered Doobalin Customs"
"Your parcel has cleared Doobalin Customs"
"Your parcel is on its way to you"
"Your parcel is at the tender mercies of An Post, best of luck"
"Your parcel will be delivered tomorrow / today"
"Your parcel has been delivered - look behind the bin"

First of my private sales now holding back funds.

These are used Merc struts going to USA. I'll send them out tomorrow and likely won't add tracking so the payment comes by 26th as that is likely the same roughly as when they will actually arrive and if delayed it won't extend it further! PITA this but I'm better clearing space in the garage regardless

BUYERS and anti motorist councils did that. I have not as far as I can recall, had one failed next day delivery from Amazon.

ive had a few amazon so say delivery next day being a 2nd or even 3rd day

where they get delivered to is a 12 min drive out of the local town im thinking the delivery drivers dont want to do the drop late at night so let it run out of time or push a button to shelve it

Catch 22. To use the ebay funds I have to get the label through them. Saves me postage anyway

Also I didn't say I was going to send them untracked or uninsured. That would be very silly indeed. I said I would skip adding the tracking to eBay listing.

Of thay £299, £110 was postage cost. But ebay is showing I can buy a 30kg label for £83 using the pending balance. I'll so that and get it on its way. Means asking £200 odd quid but no one else here locally buys R230 parts so off they go and to be honest I'm that sick of tripping over these I really couldn't care less if customs bins them etc

I had a cheap pair of embroidered name tags made for my Men's Shed dust coat , super glued one on the inside of the big stainless steel mail box ( we have no letter plate in the door ).
Everything that fits in it shows the tag stuck to the lid .. Also got fed up with delivery agents asking me if this was this or that address .
I printed off a set of large 8 inch tall numbers on thick paper , stuck them on to 15 mm thick black scrap stock board and then drilled & cut them out on my fretsaw machine , put several counter sunk screw holes in them soaked off the paper , then screwed them to the soffit with marine grade stainless screws well out of reach so they are highly visible from the road , they won't easily decay nor lose colour .

Not sure if you saw my globe trotting pre Brexit packet to " 25.4 mm in Germany " , think it had over 18 different destination or custom rejection labels on it before eventually coming back to me five or so months after Brexit . Two days after getting it back I stripped the labels off and successfully resent it .

Through ebay International shipping? You get paid as soon as it arrives at ebay uk hub not the buyer for those transactions.

For example latest £100+ sale to guy in Belgium via ebay International.

It's added on by ebay.
So, if you list an item and input £50 as the price it will show up to the buyers as £52.75.

Someone buys it, they pay £52.75. You receive £50.
All quite straight forward.

Although, there is a bit of a bug with it at the moment.
If you wanted the price to be shown to the buyer as £49.99 you would have to work out the listing price accordingly.
The fee is supposed to be 4% + 75p.
It's not working properly.
I listed an item yesterday at £47.35 hoping it would show at £49.99
It's showing at £44.91

As a buyer, on the listing, the item price is shown. By this is the text 'includes buyer protection fee'
If you click on the text it sometimes shows the price for the item and the amount of the fee.

I say 'sometimes' as that's not working for all items yet either. Sometimes it just shows you a description of what the protection fee is.

Yea I was surprised by that as well, all the doom and gloom posts made it seem like the old style fees where you lose out.

Just listed an item for £22 and it shows as £23.6

Yea, I'd expect it to be £23.63? Maybe they are rounding down but I've got items that now show at £24.11 and other odd numbers.

I think the only way you'll loose out is in loss of sales.

These 'buyer fees' only show for private sellers.
So, if a business seller has an item listed at £49.99 and a private seller lists the same thing at £48.50 to try and undercut the item from the business seller will end up being cheaper for the buyer.

Sold enough to international buyers recently to know getting right size/weight is a nightmare... Spend more time on each listing selecting the right one lol

Good advice.

For anything larger than medium jiffy envelope I put in a price instead of letting eBay select a service themselves. (A price that is fair and that I know will be about right VS me getting caught short and paying the difference which I have done for many years!)

Thank you. I messaged them to clarify how it was applied, as yet, still no reply from them !

I wouldn't mind betting you will lose out on the £44.91 item ..........

I'm sure it will not be long before they charge sellers fees again, as well as the buyer protection !
