I'm not going to go through every page of this thread, but just in case it hasn't already been mentioned...
The new "buyer protection fee" is not applied to the postage cost. As a seller you can price your item low and add a silly postage cost to minimise the buyer protection fee. However, that would likely end up with negative feedback from buyers who were too stupid to understand why the item was priced that way. My seller feedback for postage costs is currently 4.9 despite only charging actual postage costs and sometimes less than the actual cost!
Phones attract the most scammers, it seems.Well happy with the outcome, although I do suspect the buyer was pulling a fast one
Hmm might start using it myself then, have just been defaulting to royal mail 48 since can do the bring my label option but after reading the following it makes sense to try it - "Keep in mind that if you opt out, you won't benefit from the enhanced cover for loss or damage to the item during transit offered by Simple Delivery"eBay confirming they had refunded the buyer, however, because I'd used their managed shipping options I was fully covered and get to keep the money![]()
Most of stuff I sell I do collection with bring my label as works out cheaper than dropping off when I buy directly but through ebay you don't get bring my label just print own for collection@Bki26 the eBay managed postage option for the 3 phones I sold was actually Royal Mail, you get a QR code from eBay, rock up at a Post Office etc, scan the QR code and they print the label for you
I do exactly the same , saves me going out and messing around with printer and I don't have one . I have been using this service for a year and half and sell weekly so it works for me. I always use tracking and big price items signed with compensation. Most of stuff I sell I do collection with bring my label as works out cheaper than dropping off when I buy directly but through ebay you don't get bring my label just print own for collection
Really tempted to buy a cheap label printer as would make life so much easier and save the postie bringing the label lol. Mostly use tracking 48 as its up to £150 compensation for only £3.4 and no other service comes close to that! Royal mail is really underappreciated imo.I do exactly the same , saves me going out and messing around with printer and I don't have one . You can book the collection when buying the postage on ebay, I just prefer the bring my label option so I don't need to print anything but you can only get that if you purchase directly from royal mailEven better - don't leave the house at all.
Buy RM postage from ebay. Book free collection from your address the next day from RM. Postie picks up the parcel and sends email receipt.
Selecting the image doesn't do anything you'd need to do select the right drop down if they had it setup, from what little info given in the listing I'd say it's obviously the plate type since gives the dimensions and says comes with 4 screws.Well I have another issue with eBay after only using Amazon for months I purchased 2 sets of these.
I selected the 3rd image as I was a single center bolt fixing. But this is what I sent.View attachment 487409
This was their reply....doh.

Can such sales be held in escrow , how does that work ? Does it give the seller better protections ?I've been taking advantage of the change in sellers fees and flogging off a few old mobile phones we had kicking about
A few years ago they were top of the range but all 3 had some damage and had been sat in a drawer for over a year
1st surprise was how much they sold for, way way more than I expected
I did have an issue with 1 phone, it sold but buyer didn't pay. Same thing happened twice more with the same phone and at the 4th attempt the winning bidder actually paid
Phone was shipped using the eBay managed postal service (Royal Mail)
eBay confirmed when the phone was delivered and then 2 days later I get a message from eBay that the buyer had reported not receiving the phone!
As you can imagine I'm worried that I'm gonna lose the money
Anyways, eBay says, leave it to us, we will work with RM to try and understand what's happened and we will be in touch, in the meantime, your funds are frozen
5 days later, message from eBay confirming they had refunded the buyer, however, because I'd used their managed shipping options I was fully covered and get to keep the money

Not the best listing and probably just a Chinese dropship seller but definitely not the bolt style
