Modified a punch and experimenting on a cheap 52DL 3/8" chain which will become 50DL to fit the 020T. I want to convert some 1/4" 47DL chains to make 60DL, joining links are not available so I'd need to reuse them.

That's why I prefer NZ.

NZ is just across the ditch, we are in the same pool of water, critters have tails they swim. When I was fishing (longlining) we would catch the odd northern bluefin tuna down our way. That fish must of have a major GPS malfunction, so I think that the lower population pressure and the coastline on the south island makes it harder for the great whites to grab a homosapien. Here in Au we have live bait on fiberglass boards throwing themselves and seeing what takes the bait. Maybe it may just be the intellect of some individuals. Again when I was fishing out of 'Coffs Harbour' one gent wanted to be taken out far out to sea so he could go snorkling and spear a Broardbill (Swordfish). Having caught them on the longline and experienced what they are capable of doing I kindly said NO. Got offered $2000 Au, but still refused. That gent was determined he asked all the longliners there at the time the same thing. I don't think anyone obliged. He saw it on a utube video and thought it would be cool.

A couple of wood trays/grates for the stove.



So the wood sits atop a proper bed of ash, rather than being sat directly on the coal grate.

These have around a ¼" gap all round when sat in the stove, & will rest on the coal grate. They're approx. 8" square. Cut from a cast iron griddle.

The bits on the right are just the offcuts.

The Little Wenlock I had at the old place advised removing the coal grate & ash pan when using wood, & the baseplate of that stove was similarly styled, so used that as the base idea for this.

One half of the bale spike

Just a quick bodge with the holes being plasma cut out of my DIY pallet fork headstock. The weld in bushes go through a 10mm plate on the front, the narrow side of a 80x40x3mm RHS and then another 10mm plate holding on the quick attach hooks, the bush is also welded on one side to the 20mm thick hook that forms part of the quick attach mechanism.

Only going to be used to pick up a handful of 4ft round hay bales and 8x4x4ft straw bales a year so doesn't need to be particularly strong. The headstock is slowly being used, abused and repaired but it's comfortable lifting 2t pallets.

Bale spikes finished, need to turn some bushes ideally to properly locate the locking pins so for now won't bother with welding the locking brackets back on.

Should say that I wanted the spikes as close to the top as possible as putting the bales of straw into the mezzanine in the stable there isn't a lot of headroom. Where they are means there's 10mm plate front and rear, 3mm box and also the 20mm thick hooks to weld them too. Any higher and there'd be a lot of gusset etc. This way I should be able to spike the bales such that the headstock is completely hidden so I've got as much clearance as possible. Ideally I'd lose a couple of feet off the width but the width is useful when used as pallet forks.

Finished off the welding today on the boat up the slip, I was making a mess for the crew.
Quite an awkward thing to make and I am getting too old and stiff for these kinds of things

Also altered the pipes on my bike.
The Black Widow pipes just come with the bracket shown below to attach rigidly to the foot peg mount and there was quite a bit of vibration through the peg. I fitted a rubber washer in between and it helped massively but there was still some vibration.

I decided to mimic the original Honda one that had rubber in a bracket, there is a flange with a tube that goes through the rubber and then another washer on the other side, it means the exhaust is totally isolated from the foot peg mount so I should not get any vibration.

The last time i made one the bale spikes came with tapered bushes that you welded in.

These were bought individually but I had fun trying to find some long spikes. Ideally wanted something about the 6-8ft mark but I know why they're not common. These were 100mm the longest I could find at a sensible price.

We've got a mezzanine floor above the feed area in the stable and the straw bales need to go end on to get in. It also needs to go in tilted up and then dropped down due to the roof. I've done it in the past with the forks but it was a pain, then while the JCB was down a neighbour did it with his telehandler - that was a bit too big because access is awkward but he did manage it. Hopefully this will make things a little smoother as my 2CX is that much smaller and hopefully the spikes are long enough to keep the bale from collapsing on itself. Luckily we have a concrete patio next to the house I can drop the bale off to ram against it because spiking them end on isn't the easiest.
