Ah ha - there's your problem - vernier calipers don't have auto shut-off . . . or indeed, any form of "on" . . . they just exist . . . but you do need good eyesightVernier calipers that don't a have thumb wheel and do have auto-shutoff.

I have my dad's gilbows - only way I could use them as a kid was with two hands (or one handle in the vice, hit the other with a hammer) . . and I somehow always caught a finger in between the handles somehow . . . meaning that despite the fact they will still cut paper, I have probably only used them a handful of times in the last 40 plus years since.Gilbow snips with the handles that also pinch your belly
Never had much luck with those tools for loosening things, you hit with a hammer. Can't think of the name in English.
I've had one for years and if it doesn't undo a screw it shears the head off, handy for the screws in brake drums and discs. That's strange, they are one of those tools where even the cheap ones actually work pretty well
Never, ever worked for me...easy outs - my arris![]()
Talco brand, in a blue metal case. Had a set years and it works for me.That's strange, they are one of those tools where even the cheap ones actually work pretty well
I've got a Spiralux pair I've had since the 80s, and I use them quite frequently for all kinds of stuff, (used them on a little job today in fact) they work fine and I've never once caught my fingers in 'em!All pop rivet guns that are the plier type! What on earth are people still using them for.
Funnily enough they popped up on an add late yesterday, cheap and I nearly pushed the buy button to give them a go, I wouldn't have expected much and you have confirmed the suspicions!Hope no-one else was stupid enough to buy a set of these.
Look good in the advert but uselss after cutting a few bits of light guage sheet metal.
