Useless tools that should have been binned long ago

SeaDog recently shared his collection of tap wrenches in another post. Now I have never had much luck with tap wrenches. This could be because most of them came with cheap and nasty tap and die sets bought from china. Now I do have some expensive branded ones, but many of the expensive ones still dont perform much better. I find the smaller the tap size the worsted holding it without spinning it is. Now for some reason I still keep the cheapest and worsted performing offenders in the toolbox rather than the scrap bin, but don’t know why.

So what rubbish tool keeps coming home with you rather than being left at the side of the road?

Cheap Chinese tap and die sets are rubbish, we've one at work, it really should be binned.

Cheap rivet guns too, where the expended stem gets stuck inside, or they just slide down the rivet, not pulling it in, absolute crap. Bin.

'Easy outs', which don't work, or snap.

Pozidrive cordless drill driver bits, made of cheese.

Never had much luck with those tools for loosening things, you hit with a hammer. Can't think of the name in English.

I could be here a while.

@Barking Mat. Depending on how gooder you are, the Answer could be Thumbs. However to keep things on track its called An Impact Hammer (edit;Driver.)


I have various 2 and 3 leg pullers, some since my teens and every one gives me grief when I have to use them. And the pileoShite excuse for a hydraulic ram.

I had a set of Goliath taps given, they are on a par with my Snap-on set at work.

Don't thing Goliath are still on the go unfortunately.

Adjustables that aren’t Bahco. Every other brand seems to loosen up before you even put any pressure on them. Even the new Chinese or where ever they’re made Bahco just work.

The worst ones are when the handles are so un ergonomically designed that when the rivet eventually breaks you manage to hit the tip of your fingers on the other handle, sometimes quite violently.

Sadly not, they shut down - I have some gear from them I bought off a chap that cleared out their premises.

Cordless tools that have any sort of thermal protection even the Dewalt drills have them now and kick in just as you break through with a bit and it stops

I have a pair you squeeze. But I cannot squeeze them single handed. When the do close up they tend to trap an important fleshy part
