does the motor make any noise at all, it is very unlikely to be totally goosed unless it is burnt out, does it have a centrifugal switch? is it open circuit when it should be closed for starting? have you checked the socket you are using with another appliance to make sure it is live? the motor has a start and a run winding, they will be marked A1 and A2 for the run, and Z1 and Z2 for the start winding, or maybe U1/2 and V1/2 whatever, you should be able to measure continuity between 1 and 2 on the same winding.

Motor doesn't make any sound when turned on ,have checked socket .

Right , back at this test motor lark again . Where do I start . When I connect multimeter (ohms) black to cable 6 red to cable 5 meter reads .580 odd then goes to .003 , similar with the other cables .

This motor shows no signs of being burnt out , no smells just looks fine to me .

I haven’t checked a single phase motor recently but to me both windings should be of a similar colour if it’s ok. Checking with a pat tester will show if there is a fault compared to testing with a multimeter. I would also expect that .003 is to low as this is nearly a dead short

Not necessarily. If they've used wire from different sources the lacquer may be different. Smell is the big giveaway.

Definitely no smell of a burnt motor .

Has this ever run? From what I can see there is no centrifugal switch. So it's a capacitor start/capacitor run motor, which requires one capacitor. I'm assuming that the red wires are the start winding, the black/yellow the run (it may be the other way around).
It's possible that the two caps. Were parallel connected to make a 75μF capacitor.

It was used before and has definitely run before . The capacitors are start and run . And as far as I know ,the capacitors are in the same configuration from new .

The first two pictures show everything connected, but aren't clear enough to make out what's what. Do you have a better picture? Where do 1 and 6 connect to?

I've change the inlet cable double checked it ,checked continuity from the household plug to the pressure switch then from the pressure switch to the inlet of the motor where the capacitors are housed . From this pint in I don't really know what I'm doing or know which wire does what . Would it be worth trying to connect the motor bypassing the capacitors ,unfortunately I don't have a cap tester .

I'm not sure there's no tag on the motor ,think I read somewhere that it's a 3hp motor

Measure red to red, and black to yellow, nothing else connected.
