What sort of snake is it?
It was a Corn Snake, it escaped from it's enclosure and decided the FZ6 was a more comfy place to live!.
They are strong when the don't want to move, was amazed really.

My rear brakes had started to grumble but the pads had been replaced within the last year (I had been led to believe).
Looking through the wheel seemed to corroborate that belief.
Anyway, my friend came over today and took the wheel off and split the caliper.
This is what dropped out of the inner side:
I have not seen one delaminate like that before in over 40 years of doing brakes

^^ Any signs of a manufacturer's name anywhere on the back plate? Might be of dubious origin?

Is it just cheap pads? I don't buy cheap myself so it was a surprise to me!ive seen that a few times and ive been working on cars for somewhat less than 40 years...

nope. those where oem. mazda logo on back proved it.
ive also had the same happen to brake shoes on the rear. once on a mk1 clio, and once on the handbrake shoes on a mk1 Sorento. both where caused by rust jacking due to age, both where oem shoes.
had it happen several times more on pads on random cars. those are just the most notable.

ive seen that a few times and ive been working on cars for somewhat less than 40 years...

I restore my own 15 - 30 year old MB cars. I've seen this a good number of times.
Last example was the rear brake pads on my S600 V12, fell out in bits.
Discs were still in good condition as were the rear 4 pot calipers. So I fitted new pads and that was that.
Fancy bike, fancy bits, burnt out clutch in 2000 miles..
I've got an idea why it's failed but waiting on a new Ducati clutch pack to turn up to do some measuring.
Feel sorry for customer as they bought it all done (ex display bike), obviously person who fitted it all didn't check it afterwards.
I've already proven it's not a hydraulic issue so can't do any more until new clutch turns up.
A lot to be said for leaving stuff alone / standard imho.
Clutch Pack is £400, plus time for fitting and more time to work out which aftermarket part caused the fault in the first place..

Harley Softail Drivebelt and pulley replacement.
Remove all the Primary Drive / Clutches and casings, remove exhaust (because they fit the swingarm pivot from the rhs!).
Special tool for front pulley. Special tool for Start bolts (otherwise it's oil tank out as well).
A lot of choice words along the way!.
I put swingarm spindle in from the left when rebuilding to save the next bloke in some time..
