Wrong way round! GB got the 30a version on a 13a plug, EU & Northern Ireland got the 40a version with the 16a plug. It has been discussed on the board somewhere.
They are both the same internally & some members have tweaked a pot inside to bring the 30a version up to 40a.

I'll have to post a picture .mine has the 16 amp plug has the internal compressor and has 40 amp on th dial purchased from the store at the west end of the M4 mid Oct 2022

I suspect that they were just shipped to the stores exactly as they came in from Parkside , with no particular selection going to any one place .

Sorry the piccy is fuzzy , I ain't going out to the garage this time of night to take a better one , the 16 amp plug is just visible on the LH lower side of the picture..

Could you.....buy one of the non compressor ones and graft an inbuilt compressor on?

Tbh doing that interests me more than actually cutting anything!

Ah, I was referring to the versions without the compressor, sorry about the confusion.

I bought one today. No idea yet how to use it & what I'll be able to use it to do.
This one is 30A and no compressor
(I have a 100L belt-drive thats portable enough though)
It'll have pilot arc though which I believe is a good thing.
It should steel thick enough for anything I'm likely to cut if what I've read on here is anything to go by.

My OH got mine in the nearest branch (Carmarthen, W Wales) for me as I was unable to get there.
Last time the store had 4 units, & a queue waiting for opening - gone in seconds.
This time no queue, and OH estimated there were 12-15 units at least available.
Do stores place individual stock order quantities I wonder?

I bought one today in Alphington, Exeter.
Tried last couple of times they've had Plasma's in the past on same day but always gone!

I went in yesterday as a test of willpower as in NOT to buy one. Determined as I was, to wait for the built in compressor ones. Thankfully they had none in so I took it as a sign.

i did think about it for the farm though, but i might just finally look for a new torch for the old cebora prof 50 instead, its a good machine still!

I went this morning for some 0.6mm Mig wire, local store only had 1 roll, but at least 3 plasma cutters.. resisted the urge to buy one..

Just got back, went to another local store and bought another reel of wire, they had several, tempted to buy 2 more…they also had at least 3 plasma cutters, but again resisted..I can’t really justify £150 for summat that I’d use once in a Sheffield flood….besides, ain’t got any matl that would require a plasma for cutting…

Im sure some of these cutters will appear on marketplace at vastly inflated prices…

i never looked much at the wire, is it any good? just plain wire on small spools?

Dunno, all I know it’s gasless Mig wire, they had 3 sizes, 0.6/0.8/0.9. For £5 it’s worth a punt imho..,

I have two unopened Machine mart 1kg reels of mild steel fluxed cored 0,6 mm Co2 wire .. found them in a drawer a couple of years after I got my triple mode welder & a Co2 cylinder .. & had sold the old Co2 gas less welder
Don't know if they are any good they must be around seven years old , in original blister packs , are FOC if you cover the postage of about 2kg or want to drop by and pick them up.

I hooked mine up last night just to try it & check it worked.
Connected to my 100L compressor, connected up the Torch & Earth, dug out some old 3mm thick slightly rusty Angle & an offcut of 30mm box (still with millscale on)...
Pilot arc ok.
First efforts at cutting I was underwhelmed, then it got worse.
The replaceable end looked kaput really fast, & the nozzle underneath a bit too.
I changed both & had another go, and it was definitely better.
I dare say it takes a bit of practice to he able to use one half-decently (& maybe I was the problem that screwed the first tip?).
Somehow I expected it to have more oomph given that its supposed to cut 9mm steel

Did you fit the first ones yourself?
If factory fitted they might not have been tightened correctly.

Also, the quality of the cheap consumables seems to vary with each one so I wouldn't be surprised if simply swapping them over improves things.

They don't make a massive issue out of cutting 3mm thick. Get a bit of 8mm and see what happens before judging it too much..
