The 157 paste could be mixed with IPA that will probably bring it back to life

Any idea what this one is? The only reference I can find to superflux is an old datasheet for "superflux 157", so I'm guessing it's just 157 brazing flux, but the fact someone's written aluminium on it makes me wonder if it's something else.


It's laying on it's side because the tub's split and it was leaking all over my bench, MSDS makes it sound like pretty nasty stuff.

These are the other rods I got:


I'm pretty sure the two thin ones are silver solder like the label says, but there's some 3/32" copper coloured ones and 1/8" bronze looking ones.

Right, the tin had most of the accessories to make a complete set with what I already had, so now I have two boxes, one metric and the other imperial - missing 25 and 26mm sockets, if anyone has those I’d be grateful.

The rest of the gear still needs going through. Good start though

Been after one of these for ages and by chance fell on this today...very well made tool and is very heavy, fast strip down and a functional clean and grease the pins and straight into service

Somehow I stumbled upon something special again, of which I don't yet know exactly where it will lead .... let's see ...

But I already have this much in my hands:

First, this pretty and practical little thing:

A small straight edge to always have with you from a good house, already older but still unused - dangerously sharp and pointy.

And a small reference angle in a design, as I have none yet.
Also unused with only mild storage traces, all edges sharp as on the first day with very fine grinding.

And calipers, the likes of which you certainly don't see often in our country ....

By the way, I hope to use the words correctly: The measuring device is called a vernier caliper, or caliper/callipers for short, and the vernier is a scale component of it to be able to get a finer reading. Right?

I don't know if a U.S. tool and gauge dealer would necessarily want to read "Made in Germany" on it when ordering gauges with his name on them in Germany....
.... with this discovery - and where this comes from there are still a lot more - I am wavering between liquidation of the blocking store and sales representative equipment .... perhaps both and still more reasons ...

Let's see what will end up with me from this source .... next week I will be there again ....

Good suggestion, thanks,

but no, it's a "Haarlineal" verbatim "hair ruler" = straight edge -> the highly accurate straight edge is slimmed down to a hair, if I put this on the surface in question, I see against the light the smallest deviations from a flat straight line.

Try and get pre 1974 Britool sockets . if your looking for Britool replacements . I've bust several post 1975 , 19, 20 & 25 mm sockets , using either a 1/2 Hazet 300 mm T bar or a 400 mm Harzet swingle . ( without a power tube or a hammer ) Occcasionally busting them using a Britool 600 mm long click and stop torque wrench as well.

I got the die grinder a couple weeks ago to be fair. It’s at work I’ve been using it lately but the drills I was given by a colleague during the week. All brand new. 12 dormer drills, 6 intal works drills and 1 presto.

Also I bought the o clips for a hose and to get free delivery I bought some 25mm wide emery, I’ve forgot which grit they are but 50m rolls were around £10 each.

What did you need them for? I've had a full set of 5-lobe for 10+ years and i don't think i've ever used them.

Torx used on a lot of modern stuff - had a set since 1987 when I needed to dismantle a Renault 11 - local garage lent me a set, which was very good of him, seeing as I'd never had him do any work until then - used him for as long as I lived in the area (Headlands Garage up Denhome Gate Road in Hipperholme, just past the Grammar school, heading for Shelf).

As I had a free supply of security headed stainless Torx, whoever has to dismantle my car port in years to come will need a set

I got a cheap Dormer Torx long set off eBay a couple of years ago of such security screw drivers that fit a 1/4 mm hex drive handle ratchet pistol grip or straight handle . Each bit is 100 mm long .& slightly slimmer than the screw head so it goes down any screw access hole easily . Very handy for taking smaller Dyson stuff apart .

I'm now after a triangular set in the same length .
