I get on well with both sets of neighbours. Some people from up the road look at ya like your trash..but you know my reaction to them.

What did you need them for? I've had a full set of 5-lobe for 10+ years and i don't think i've ever used them.

VW LT and VW T4 have them on the maf sensors

Been after one of these for ages and by chance fell on this today...very well made tool and is very heavy, fast strip down and a functional clean and grease the pins and straight into service

VW LT and VW T4 have them on the maf sensors

I've never had a MAF with those screws not come with the housing. Some Mercs use 5-lobe for wing mirrors and they're on some injector pumps and cam phasers. But in 15 years as a mechanic i've never needed them.



The 5-lobe and Torx Plus sets cost me a fortune (£400+ i think) and neither have ever been used.

Today was a mad dash to Ottery St Mary.
Why?
I knew they had the bits I needed to finish of a few projects.

But, it is that kind of place I get more.

A bundle of weights, there are some I do not need . But enough of the ones I want.

It was cheeper to buy this for one item. Than buy the one item on its own.

I wanted the Tweezers.

I've just bought a set purely to swap the MAF sensor on my Audi TT. I'll never use the rest of the set, I don't imagine, but under £7 delivered. I had a look around all the tool stalls at the NEC Classic Show, and the restoration show just gone, and no-one had any.

Has your new sensor not come with the housing then?

I've never needed to remove those screws as the new sensors always came with the housing as they're "calibrated" to the housing's bore/cross section. (Although people do swap housings on modified cars and such when remapping.)

I suppose you might remove the screws for easier claning of the MAF but that's generally in vain anyway.

They're an obscure tool for sure. I bought mine to "be prepared" but i got that wrong.

Yesterday unpacked, it is necessary to put the band saw on the wheels.

The Chinese began to make a new type of vice, it seems to me that they are very successful.

I got a cheap Dormer Torx long set off eBay a couple of years ago of such security screw drivers that fit a 1/4 mm hex drive handle ratchet pistol grip or straight handle . Each bit is 100 mm long .& slightly slimmer than the screw head so it goes down any screw access hole easily . Very handy for taking smaller Dyson stuff apart .

I'm now after a triangular set in the same length .

When I was a skint student back in 89/90, I bought a set of torx drives, long and short that fitted into the 1/2" drive adaptor that came with them, in a tin box box, all un-branded, from a stall on the market down The Moor in Sheffield to work on the Renault(s) I had - They've been used with pipes over tommy bars, with impact guns, lent to mates with no mechanical sympathy (with the impact gun, and a compressor to run it, so he could remove the rear suspension from a Pug 405) , hammered into rounded off socket headed screws . . . and still look in pretty good condition - the odd one looks a little twisted.

Best fiver I have ever spent!

Watch makers mini lathe ? Sit on the carriage when it'sto the left & it would be like going on a char banc holiday by the time you get to the right hand end .
