If I stood my sharpened tungsten's up like that I guarantee I'd push one down the back of my nail at sometime or other . I just have mine laid flat in a plastic case

Yes I wouldnt want to trip and land with a hand or face on it! So I will be after a peice of clear plastic tube which I will cut a selection hole, a bit like the round case drill sets.

Completed the low bench/stool that I'd started last week; used Hycote etch primer, matt black and clear lacquer - now complete I can see that I could have done a better job with the flap disc before painting! It'll be going in the hall which isn't well lit so won't be seen but I'll know for next time as it didn't look as visible in the workshop.

I was given the oak (750 x 200 x 60mm approximately) to say thank you for turning a small yew handle for a family heirloom, an old ornate cheese slice, and it wasn't in that condition when I got it; took it to work and put it through the thicknesser planer before sanding and a few coats of Danish oil.

I'm still immensely pleased with it and glad I bought one thicker than many you see at that price. At first I was concerned that the 28mm holes might be a disadvantage as most hold down tools are for smaller but I've made various clamps and accessories for it since.

4" hole in the wall, the inlet and exhaust come out the bottom of the heater and then outside.

Bit of rock wool closes up any gaps

I also thought of 'where is the exhaust' because the diesel heater is sat on a trolley

I took an old cobblers hammer gave it a grind/polish and chopper the back off so I can planish welds in tight areas.

Planishing went well although there’s still work to do.

I also made up a pair of heelboard ends.

Nice Job.

If you are after a nice finish, don't underestimate what the primer / undercoat does.
A decent coat of primer and a quick flat works wonders on the final finish.
If you can see any defect in the metal, I can guarantee you it will look 10 times worse after top coat.

I should have gone for a 'high build 'primer - and done a better job with the angle grinder and fibre disc!
