Today I got a letter from the owner of the industrial estate that my workshop is on. They're terminating my rental lease just before Christmas. Chatting to the security guard, a bunch of other people on the estate have had the same letter.
Glad they gave me a decent amount of notice, at least!

Nice purchase, drink the tinned IPA quickly though I find it gets a bit of a "tinny" taste if it hangs about too long

Acquired this motor with its attached unfeasibly large pump (Around 2" bore inlet /outlet) at the weekend.
Had to work for it though....
This Jacuzzi was craned into the back garden of a mate of Sue's -the house is in a terrace. Said mate wasn't keen on forking out for a second crane when the time came to remove it. My job was to reduce it to bite size bits which could be fitted into sacks so that they can be taken to the local dump. Was bloody knackered at the end of the day even though the reciprocating saw was an easy tool to use.
the motor is quite interesting as it's dual wound 4 pole 1425 RPM and two pole 2850 RPM. It's about half horsepower output in four pole and about 3 horsepower in 2 pole mode. Scored those 56lb chunky weights that are in the background of the photo too; they will come in handy when I get my home foundry up and running again.

I’ve seen a few American metal shaping fellas with these nice steel dishes for shaping sheet metal in a similar way that you’d use a shot bag so did a pair for myself today.

Those pump motors often have a oddball shaft with a thread or splines but nothing that cant be sorted with a lathe.

As I said in the citric acid thread, don't leave the basket or elements sitting in the acid otherwise they will dissolve!

I did a pull-out on M16 threaded rod set 150mm into concrete with HY200 resin - got to 9 tons and pulled the nut through the washer.
