Got the access hatch/vent thingy welded up today.

Removable vent plate.

Sitting in the orientation it will when fitted, the vent panel is secured with 4x m10 set screws tapped into the main section and the vent fitted over them and wing nuts to secure.

I've got 2" weights and a 1" curling bar, I've also got no metrology toys here so rather than measure anything properly, I just made a short version to check the fit without wasting too much time or plastic. It's a bit snug on the bar and a bit loose on the plates but it looks like it'll work.

The Head of Common Sense has just called to tell me my Nissan van is back home with a full MOT .

Considering I got the 6 month extension because of Covid, that's 18 month since the last test during which time it was generally driven 15 mile to work on a Sunday/Monday where it stayed all week before driving another 15 mile back home at the end of the week. I'm so chuffed to bits with my little rice burner that I can't wait to crack on with converting it to a campervan, and Covid permitting I have a couple of big trips planned for next year.

This evening I made one end of a short offcut of drain pipe (thanks @Bobtail4x4) slightly smaller...

One end was the perfect size (it's going into a 68 mm right angle drain bend), the other was just too big, so I had to skim a bit off. That was a fun exercise in work holding in the lathe...
