The rivets here have long gone.
The holes are not the same size. But a 4mm drill had that soon sorted.

New rivets, made from round bar.

Bright steel round nails are handy bar lengths in small diameters
if you counter drill the end of a range of slightly bigger bars after grinding the drill bit to a half round with clearances you can make a range of " rivet snaps "
Heat the end of the nail whilst it's securely held in a vice to cherry red and form one dome head on it using the snap if you slightly undersize ( 1/64 th ) predrill through the collar / sheath of the tool and the wooden shaft you can usually tap a red hot domed rivet in and still have enough time to form the other dome head whilst there is still a fair bit of red heat in the rivert ....if you set the bottom snap securely in the vice before heating the rivet up .

Have one as the anvil and the other as the former to give you round headed rivets on both side
If you have any casehardening powder .. case harden a set from 1/8 th t0 1/4 of an inch going up in 1/16ths

What you need to go with a sickle is a Fagging hook. Usually cut from an ash volunteer or similar, it would be 2 or 3 feet long, and has a small side branch at around 60 degrees to the handle, and if lucky a small rootball where the two join. Its used to hold the nettles up while you cut them as low as you can, and to drag them out of the way. Much better than splashing little bits of nettle all over yourself and making a din.

The top two curved slashers were used around the farm in the 1950's to chop nettles , thistles , brambles & gorse etc. & drag the cuttings to one side

Usually to get the flywheels off use a big quality make three legged puller , undo the holding nut so it just forms a cup on the thread and put the centre bolt of the puller in the middle , use washers if needed to keep it central then tighten it up and once it's tight give the bolt head one sharp slap with a 2 pound hammer .
If it hasn't come off put a lit 100 watt light bulb next to the flywheel n & cover it with a big carboard box so the 100 watts of heat can warm the flywheel through over a few hours of heating then repeat the removal exercise . If it does not budge give it WD 40 let it cool over night then rewarm as before & repeat the exercise .

If you're worried about damaging the crankshaft thread end turn up a small brass boss that sits inside the slackened nut thread then set up the puller as before ,

The flywheel is also the shredder, maybe 14-16 inches across. Id have to drop in in the forge all day to get any heat into it, and the puller would need to be immense. Its one of these

If it is unbolted at the housing are there any thread extraction holes in the flywheel close to the crank bearing if so see if you can see where they will be pressing h extraction bolt onthe casing .slacken the securing nut a 2 full turns , sometimes you have to rotate the flywheel to align the extraction bolts with thickened jacking pads if there is set all the extractor bolts to the same feeler blade gap & then in cross diagonal selection give each bolt 1/6 of a turn till it is tight with an equal number of flats turned on each bolt . Then with a hard wooden dowel such as a bit of wooden broom shaft or a soft brass / copper / aluminium drift , put it on the end of the crank shaft and wallop it with a 2 pound hammer try to tighten each extraction bolt another flat and repeat the shock treatment . try it several times but don't strip the threads of the holes or on the bolts .
What I said about heating with a 100 watt lit bulb still stands , once the thing is stripped for access.

You really won't regret the lessons, there is a guy I know who the kids went through and apart from being an amazing pianist and teacher is massively into keyboards and has written published books on learning on keyboards - KeyQuest Music.

What you might find frustrating when the boys learn is how fast they overtake you reading music let alone playing, I got to grade 3 reading just on treble clef playing guitar, they shot to grade 8 exams with distinctions in no time. If you can sit down and play an instrument half well anywhere - you're everybody's friend ut only the very luck make a living out of it...

Mr Vark, make sure you clean out the tank on the weed burner, rust and bits of paint clog the burner tube if you don't and you end up with a very poor flame.

Got it set now so sending a track to a mixer buss sends it to the kaosilator for loop recording. Did you ever crack the 303 out?

Not brave enough in those days to mess with the thing , I just filled it up with the 'burny' stuff, pressurised it and that was what I got...... As I said, no instructions etc from the hire place...maybe I didn't look stupid back in the day.

I suspect lack of checking/servicing before I picked it up - who'd know what the previous customer did with/to it? I DID learn a valuable lesson though, so it wasn't a total loss as an exercise.

Torques done 'something' as it will now start, but wont help with the service light or abs or airbag light... Dash command doesnt seem to work at all....
