Wait - what! The £35 welder actually worked! The little beastie completed its first paying job today; 10 of 3.2Ø type 6013 electrodes laid down over a thirty minute period with the dial switch set at just under 100 amps. The job was welding two 100 x 50 x 10 PFC uprights to two 60 x 60 x 5 SHS horizontals...….. The set performed perfectly.
When I got in this evening I remembered to weigh it, note the shoulder carrying strap that was supplied with this set.
1559 grams or 55 ounces or not quite 3½lbs

But what of all these people who said that there could never be such a wonder...?
I'm trolling, of course

Dial seemed a bit high for what it needed vs what it said so I suspect it's more like 160A or 180A than the 200A it claims. No way to test that though as 2.5mm and 3.2mm 6013 is the entirety of my stock of MMA rods.
