Churchill Computurn 290 retrofit (again)

I got the cabinet finished last night and took it to the Coaters today to see if they could do it in RAL 6011, the guy pointed to a couple of parts hanging on a rack and said, what like that There were a few parts for some sort of machine, possibly a lathe that he had just done the previous day.
I should get it back Monday or Tuesday so hopefully all will go well with it and it will be a bit more respectable than my painting

I also found another yellow button so that is all 7 now

I got some wiring installed to the inputs, altered the PLC ladder and then tested it out by touching the Input wires to 0v and nothing I then noticed the outputs I had altered in the macro were Y prefixed rather than the M they are supposed to be so I once again edited the ladder and found out how to change to M. Well still no joy so I was away to compose an email to China when I wondered is the output needed to be a "Set" output. The manual isn't very clear but I decided to edit again and give it a try, this time success

Reseda Green - even I've heard of that before! You're going to need something to do on those long winter nights - might even be dry for summer

Quite chuffed with myself.
I don't do sheet metal work as a rule as I am about as good at that as I am painting.
I decided to use up some steel that I had chopped out of the swarf tray surround a while back and I made this.
It is probably about 1.2mm thick steel and the thinnest steel rods I have are 1.6mm so a bit on the heavy side but it went reasonably well.

I still need to do some tweaking as it is catching on the aluminium housing but it is fairly close.

Oh and to give @RichardM a warm and fuzzy feeling I had some gunwash on a rag so I did this.

Because I had to cut a section out for the toolsetter it meant that the light I had fitted years ago had to be removed and cut down in length.
It is actually a light from and old street sign and with the tubes and the associated starters and chokes etc it took a fair bit of room and would have been a pain to rearrange.
Light internals removed with small screwedriver for scale.

I headed to screwefix and bought a cheap LED bulkhead light and stripped out the guts and fitted them into the casing I had been using.

I wasn't sure how well the LEDs would work but fitted it all and wired it up.

It is every bit as good, if not better, than the two fluorescent tubes that were in previously so £8 well spent.

I also got the cover shape tweaked a bit and I just pop riveted it on, sorry @RichardM , no paint

Excellent work Hood, those LEDs are really good for that close up work. Nice and bright but not too hot. That cover will be a grand heatsink as well

Maybe it won't be because I cut a bit of rubber to keep the back off the Alu to stop the wires being crushed

Just picked the cabinet up from the coaters, to say I am delighted is an understatement. I couldn't believe the cost of it either, so much so I gave them an extra £10.
Somehow I can't see me doing much work today
