Bit of a nightmare getting the control out of the old cabinet, the paint must have still been a bit soft and the neoprene seal was stuck fast. Even the lower keyboard that doesn't have a seal was solid but that came away easily enough with a prise from a screwdriver. The top however needed a careful cut around with a Stanley blade before it would come out.
Have it bored and tapped and panels fitted, next will be to remove the wiring from the old cabinet then remove it and replace with the new one, hopefully I will be up and running in an hour or so

have to agree, it almost looks ready for delivery, take your time though I'm in no rush... friday will do...

think this is exactly the point, you'll know, by reflex where each function is, so it makes no real difference anyway. Personally I'd go for the green as it's more in keeping with the panel, and the text seems clearer to me, but my eyes are shot and it's from a photo, you are there so you'll know better...

I am kind of torn myself. In the pics the colours look different to what they look in real life (with my eyes)
Symbols in both colours are about the same with regards clarity so that is not an issue for me.
I thought the Yellow was a bit too much of a contrast but the Green is just about the same in reality, so not sure but I am tending towards the Yellow

Maybe I should have the first 3 as Yellow as they are all dual move buttons. The next two in Green as they are single move and the last two in Blue as they are single move but for drills.
Or maybe I should just forget about it and just use the bleeding thing

David's right Robin, you're going to get into a pattern of muscle memory really soon so you'll probably never need the actual icon or text
How about you use it all yellow as that's what you've got it finished as. If you find yourself making mistakes and needing to know where the buttons change / midpoint etc then try new colours. It's only a facia to change on the button so not loads of work. Just suck it and see for now and adapt later if you need or want to?

I will ask a few people when they come into the workshop to see what they think but really it is not a big deal I suppose.
To my eyes the Yellow is actually a closer match to the Green panel than the Green buttons are, sounds weird but...
